The foundation reviewed hundreds of applications and awarded scholarships to 54 high school seniors from throughout New Mexico. The awards totaled $144,500 and ranged from $2,000 to $8,000 each.
Scholarships were awarded based on grade point average, financial need, recommendations and personal goals.
Latin recording artists Sparx and Lorenzo Antonio hold an annual concert at Sandia Resort to raise money for the scholarship foundation. This year’s concert will take place Aug. 23. For more information about the concert or the foundation, visit www.slafoundation.org.
