The Mesa Vista Trojans defeated the Dulce Hawks 65-58 Jan. 21 at Mesa Vista and beat Pecos 79-64 Jan. 24 in Pecos to run their season record to 16-3 overall. The Trojans travel to Mora Saturday to take on the Rangers before beginning play in District 3AA Feb. 3 at McCurdy.
Against the Panthers, the Trojans were led by Jaime Cruz, who scored a team-high 25 points. Frankie Giron added 15 points and Adrian Coronado scored 12 for the Trojans, who led 24-18 at halftime.
The Lady Trojans improved to 14-3 on the season with a 58-36 victory over Center, Colo., Jan. 20 at Mesa Vista. Carmelita Trujillo led the Trojans with 15 points, while Muriah Dean and Stephanie Gallegos each had 11 for Mesa Vista. Laura Lopez added 10 points for the Trojans against the Vikings.
Mesa Vista faced Coronado Monday (results not available) in a game that was rescheduled from Jan. 24 because Coronado was celebrating its homecoming on that date. The Trojans will celebrate their homecoming Feb. 7, when they host the Questa Wildcats.
