Pair Smuggle Drugs Into Jail

   A Rio Arriba County grand jury issued indictments Oct. 2 for the following individuals:

    • Christina Amaya, 20, of Española, for burglary, larceny and two counts of conspiracy.

    Amaya allegedly conspired with Valerie Gonzales to break into the Hill Street home of Leonard Martinez and steal cash, a video camera and gifts Dec. 25, 2007.

    • Valerie Gonzales, 21, of Santa Cruz, for burglary, larceny and two counts of conspiracy.

    Gonzales allegedly conspired with Christina Amaya to break into the Hill Street home of Leonard Martinez and steal cash, a video camera and gifts Dec. 25, 2007.

    • Julie Romero, 37, of Alcalde, for conspiracy and bringing contraband into a place of imprisonment.

    Romero allegedly conspired with Samuel Salazar to bring heroin into Española Jail Dec. 2, 2007.

    • Samuel Salazar, 40, of Alcalde, for conspiracy and bringing contraband into a place of imprisonment.

    Salazar allegedly conspired with Julie Romero to bring heroin into Española Jail Dec. 2, 2007.

    • Rosa Garcia, 47, of Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo, for larceny and tampering with evidence.

    Garcia allegedly stole a money bag from Jose Roybal Jan. 8, 2008, and hid it.

    • Dwayne Gallegos, 20, of Española, for four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

    Gallegos allegedly contributed to the delinquency of four juveniles Jan. 23, 2008.

    • Christina Sandoval, 34, of Chimayó, for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia and concealing identity.

    Sandoval allegedly concealed her identity July 16, 2008, and was found to be in possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

    • Jessie Franklin, 27, of Española, for burglary and conspiracy.

    Franklin allegedly conspired with David Franklin June 6, 2008, to break into the home of Esther Martinez.

    • David Franklin, 31, of Española, for burglary and conspiracy.

    Franklin allegedly conspired with Jessie Franklin June 6, 2008, to break into the home of Esther Martinez.

    • Joe Genaro Price, 37 or 39, of Española, for forgery.

    • Price allegedly forged a Social Security card Nov. 15, 2006.

    • Larry Gallegos, 51, of Fairview, for trafficking a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

    Gallegos was caught allegedly trafficking cocaine and tampering with evidence Jan. 31, 2008.

    • Jerome Naranjo, 24, of Española, for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

    Naranjo was caught allegedly in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia June 19, 2008.
