The Yankees’ Donovan Duran got high fives from Española Mayor Alice Lucero (rear) and others at the opening day ceremonies for the Española Valley Youth Baseball League April 24 at Valdez Park. The Yankees are one of seven teams in the Roberto Clemente-Machine Pitch Division for boys and girls 8 years old and under. There are a total of 47 baseball and softball teams in all divisions of the league. The number of teams will increase to 52 later in the season, according to league President Jenna Peralta.
