Police Blotter: Christmas Decorations Reported Stolen

    The Española Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police and State Police responded to the following calls:

Infamous

Tattooed Man

Monday, Dec. 8

    • 11:42 a.m. — A caller said she saw a man sitting on a bench on Vietnam Veterans Memorial Parkway whom she believed she had seen on the news. She said he had a tattoo on the back of his neck in the shape of the state of New Mexico. He could not be found.

    • 1:57 p.m. — A Highway 84 caller said his son took his Honda Civic which has a sticker on the back that reads, “Firefighters walk with the devil dancers.” Police took a report.

    • 9:26 p.m. — A La Mesilla caller said she wanted her intoxicated boyfriend removed from her house. She hung up before more information could be given.

Brothers Stealing Tuesday, Dec. 9

    • 1:25 a.m. — A West Granada Street caller said his brother, whom he has a restraining order against, stole everything out of his house, including the washer, dryer and stove. The caller was instructed to bring the restraining order to the police station.

    • 6:03 p.m. — A Private Drive 1079 caller said his wife was going berserk and attempted to leave their house after drinking. Police assisted the caller.

    • 6:56 p.m. — A Rio Arriba County Road 41 caller said his brother, who stole his medication last week, had been threatening him and trying to get him to go outside so they could fight. He was upset because his brother just drove by and honked. No report was taken.

Wednesday, Dec. 10

    • 8:40 a.m. — A woman said she encountered someone she had a restraining order against at the Santa Cruz Post Office. She wouldn’t answer dispatchers’ questions, saying it was a federal matter, and the call was transferred to Santa Fe County 911 dispatchers.

    • 4:28 p.m. — A caller said a man, who was near a bench in front of Center Market, was approaching individuals and asking them if they wanted to buy Lortabs. Officers were advised.

    • 4:35 p.m. —  The Mariguana Skate Shop owner said his ex-wife came to the store and harassed him. Police told her to stay away.

    • 6:20  p.m. — A caller said three intoxicated men were walking in the middle of State Road 76 and cars were swerving to avoid them. They weren’t found.

    • 7:37 p.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller said some people in another unit were smoking some really strong stuff that was leaving a bad taste in his mouth. Officers were advised.

Man Not All There

Thursday, Dec. 11

    • 11:04 a.m. — A Vista Los Cerros caller said three people were telling him to give them the money he owed, but he had no idea what they were talking about. They couldn’t be found.

    • 11:38 a.m. — The Hindi Trailer Park owner requested that a man be removed because he was disrespectful. The owner decided to let the man stay for the holidays.

    • 1:35 p.m. — A caller said a man near Valley National Bank, who “did not appear to be all there,” seemed lost and might get run over. The caller said the man didn’t make any sense when he talked to him. Police couldn’t find the man.

    • 5:00 p.m. — A caller said two drunk men were dancing in the middle of the road in front of Saints and Sinners liquor store. They couldn’t be found.

    • 5:36 p.m. — A State Road 215 caller said she could hear her daughter crying. The caller said there was another woman who had been drinking and she “gets psycho.” The call was transferred to a different agency.

    • 8:22 p.m. — A Fairview Sonic employee said a “kind of fat” man was harassing customers. He was detoxed.

    • 9:25 p.m. — A Tesuque Drive caller said a drunk man was trying to go to work, and advised officers to come with their lights off so as to not spook him. He was detoxed.

Store Owner Invited To Do Drugs

Friday, Dec. 12

    • 1:49 p.m. — A Paseo de Oñate business emloyee said an ex-employee was taking pictures on the premises, and requested he be removed from the area. The man left but said he would return. No report was taken.        

    • 1:50 p.m. — An In Touch Communications employee said a man wearing sunglasses was using narcotics in front of the store. The man asked the owner of In Touch if she wanted to use drugs with him. He was arrested for drug possession.

    • 3:35 p.m. — A Church Street caller said his daughter had come to his house to argue with him and threatened to make him suffer if he didn’t stop going to the casino. She was given a lawful order not to go to her father’s house anymore.

    • 5:48 p.m. — A Tierra Amarilla caller said an Aaron’s Rental truck was outside her brother’s house requesting to pick up items he didn’t pay for. She said she didn’t feel safe and thought the man was “going to do something.” Police assisted the caller.

Threatened while Holiday Trimming

Saturday, Dec. 13

    • 8:19 a.m. — A Drum Place caller said her brother was intoxicated and had a knife with him. It turned out to be a lighter, not a knife, and he was getting into the shower. No report was taken.

    • 12:57 p.m. — A Corlett Road caller said a man threatened her life and was telling her “very bad words” while she was putting up lights. She said the man threatened to hit her with a “rod iron.” The area was patrolled.

Sunday, Dec. 14

    • 12:25 a.m. — A caller said three girls in a red Cadillac near Big Rock Casino were trying to get someone to buy them liquor or to see if anyone wanted to buy narcotics. They couldn’t be found.

    • 11:21 a.m. — A Gunbarrel Road caller said $120 worth of Christmas decorations were taken from his yard. Officers patrolled the area.   

    • 1:28 p.m. — A West Granada Street caller said his brother was selling items out of his parents’ residence. Police determined it was an ongoing issue with two parties fighting over the house’s ownership, and neither had documents to prove they owned it.

    • 1:33 p.m. — A Wal-Mart employee said a customer threw a belt at a pharmacy associate. When the caller confronted the man about the incident, he admitted to throwing the belt at the employee. The man refused to leave the store. Instead he loitered in the meat department, then approached the pharmacy associate again and became violent. A female accompanying the man began to argue with an employee. The man was removed and given a lawful order not to return to Wal-Mart.

    • 7:29 p.m. — A man went to the 911 center and said he wanted to talk to an officer but wouldn’t say what about. When he was told he needed to explain why he needed police, he said he wasn’t going to talk about it on a recorded line and would instead write the mayor a letter.

    • 10:58 p.m. — A caller said there was a large hog in the middle of the road near the junction to Chamita. The cattle inspector was notified.
