Police Blotter: Impersonator Holes Up in Motel

    Española Police officers, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, State Police and Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police responded to the following calls:

Vulgar Chubby Man

Monday, Nov. 24

    • 2:09 p.m. — Center Market reported that a shoplifter attempted to steal some steaks. Police took a report.

    • 6:55 p.m. — A caller said his girlfriend would not get out of the car. Officers were advised.

    • 10:47 p.m. — A Fairview Lane caller said his pregnant girlfriend was possibly intoxicated. She went to his house, hit him and destroyed some of his belongings. The caller didn’t want to make a report because he wished to remain anonymous.

    • 11:32 p.m. — A caller said a “chubby man” was trying to open car doors in Long John Silver’s parking lot and using sexual vulgarities when he talked to people. Police couldn’t find him.

Tuesday, Nov. 25

    • 11:46 a.m. — An East Bond Street caller said someone, possibly her roommate, broke her television. She said she thought he spilled water on it. Police took an informational report.

    • 2:22 p.m. — A Socorro’s Restaurant employee said a drunk man wanted pizza and was getting irate. The employee called a second time and said the man threatened to go to his house, get a gun and shoot everyone in the restaurant. He left before police arrived, but officers contacted him and told him not to return to the restaurant.

    • 7:10 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive Beauty Salon employee said a man was trying to break in while she was alone in the shop with a client. He was detoxed.    

    • 11:05 p.m. — A caller said two men were fighting and several people were standing around at the entrance of Chili’s Restaurant To Go. A second caller said a man was trying to start trouble again with a woman. Everyone had left before police arrived.

Gas Card Scam

Wednesday, Nov. 26

    • 10:24 a.m. — A Shell gas station employee said a man tried to pay for gas with a card that had a female’s name on it. The man filled up three other cars by taking cash in trades for gas. Police took a report.

    • 12:42 p.m. — A caller said a Center Market employee hit her in the face and accused her of stealing. Police took a report.

    • 4:05 p.m. — A Western Holiday Motel employee said a woman staying there was acting very suspicious. The woman, who had been staying 10 days, told the caller she works for the Labor Department, but he said she never left her room. The caller didn’t want officers to contact her because he didn’t want her to know that he called police.

    • 4:59 p.m. — A Private Drive 1504 caller said her neighbors were harassing her, throwing her son’s bicycle down and damaging it. No report was taken.

    • 5:38 p.m. — A State Road 554 caller said a man with a bottle in his hand was knocking on her bedroom window. Officers patrolled the area.

    • 9:29 p.m. — A Wal-Mart shopper said her ex-boyfriend spit in her face and took off in her Honda. He couldn’t be found by police.

Thursday, Nov. 27

    • 12:16 p.m. — A woman said her brother beat her up, and she didn’t know where she was, since she is from Santa Fe. She was found walking and refused medical attention. She was extremely intoxicated and not properly dressed for the weather, so she was detoxed.

    • 3:29 p.m. — A caller said a drunk man in her car kept pulling the steering wheel. He was detoxed.

    • 3:32 p.m. — A caller said a knife-wielding man and a cockeyed red-haired woman were in a blue Chevrolet en route to Española from Abiquiú. Officers were advised.

New Dog Offends Neighbor

Friday, Nov. 28

    • 12:31 p.m. — An Arroyo del Alamo caller said his neighbors were harassing him about his dog. He said the last time this happened he got rid of his dog so they would leave him alone, but now that he had a new dog, they were harassing him again. The call was transferred to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department.

    • 4:15 p.m. — A North Prince Drive caller said his girlfriend was refusing to leave his home. The woman’s mother picked her up.

    • 6:25 p.m. — A Winesap Drive caller who was in a panicked state said four people were throwing rocks at her house, and they also threw a football. No report was taken.

    • 8:08 p.m. — A Calle Duran caller said her cousin came to her house to pick up a blanket and was not wanted there. She called back to say the cousin left.

    • 9:46 p.m. — A Highway 84/285 caller said her son was drunk and tried to hit her. He was maced and charged with battery.

Juveniles Steal Mail

Saturday, Nov. 29

    • 11:25 a.m. — A Calle de Jose Pablo caller said four men were harassing him and saying they were going to kill him. The caller showed an officer the text messages sent by the men. The messages didn’t mention anything about killing the caller, but “had something to do with a money and drug issue — he says the (caller) sold him some narcotics.” The caller claimed his friend sold the drugs, and said instead of making a report, he would “play it by ear” until 6 p.m. and then decide what to do. The officer called the man who sent the text messages and told him to knock it off.

    • 3:26 p.m. — A Valley Drive caller said three young men and a woman were stealing mail from multiple mailboxes. The four juveniles were detained and returned to their parents and the mail was returned to its rightful owners.

    • 4:23 p.m. — A McCurdy Road caller said two men were begging him to buy stolen goods. The men couldn’t be found.

    • 6:04 p.m. — A caller said some Burger King employees were accusing her of stealing a phone and threatened to look at the surveillance videotape to see if she stole it. The employees were giggling and thought it was a joke, the caller said, but the caller said she didn’t want to be accused of something she didn’t do. No report was taken.

    • 9:59 p.m. — An Allsup’s Convenience Store employee said a man attempted to steal an 18-pack of beer but dropped it when running out of the store.

Sunday, Nov. 30

    • 11:52 a.m. — Someone calling from Mamacita’s Restaurant said the manager of a motel she was staying at tried to throw himself on her.

    • 2:40 p.m. — A Ricardo Lane caller said his ex-girlfriend was leaving the house and trying to take stuff that didn’t belong to her. The former couple was arguing over who owned the television. They were advised it was a civil matter.

    • 3:24 p.m. — A caller said some fishermen at Heron Lake caught about 25 fish and the limit is five. A ranger was sent to the area.
