Police Blotter: Investigation of Noontime Sex Reveals Couple Eating Lunch

    Española Police officers, Santa Clara and Ohkay Owingeh tribal police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, and State Police responded to the following calls:

Valentine’s Day Child Abuse

Monday, Feb. 14

    • 8:56 a.m. — A Rio Arriba County fairgrounds caller said someone stole wire, steel rods, poles and hangers for livestock.

    • 12:48 p.m. — A Calle Elena caller said her 17-year-old daughter was missing and she found a Pyrex glass in the daughter’s purse.

    • 3:18 p.m. — A Little Creations Day Care caller said a 2-year-old boy had a lot of bruising on his leg, forehead and nose.

    • 6:22 p.m. — Police took a report about a boy at Española Hospital who had “suspicious marks” on his body. The doctor did not want to release the boy to either the mother or the grandmother.

    • 7:09 p.m. — A Maple Avenue caller said she was setting up for an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting and one of the members told her the windows to her car were broken. The caller said her purse was stolen.

    • 8:33 p.m. — A Private Drive 1526 caller said his brother kicked him in the face.

Tuesday, Feb. 15

    • 3:49 a.m. — A West Calle Celestino caller said her highly drunk neighbor was over at her house and he had been stabbed in the head.

    • 4:07 a.m. — A Comfort Inn caller said someone stole his keys and wallet while he was washing dishes in the bathtub.

    • 9:24 a.m. — A 1010 Cook Street caller said her grandson was overdosing. She said her grandson woke up but was trying to run away.

    • 1:24 p.m. — A Lowe’s Supersave caller said a man wearing black coveralls stole a bottle of Smirnoff.

    • 4:01 p.m. — A Camino Rafael caller said someone broke into her shed and took power saws.

    • 4:32 p.m. — An ambulance treated a Pine Avenue woman who overdosed on Tylenol and Xanax. The woman was breathing and alert.

    • 5:09 p.m. — A Lower San Pedro Road caller said a man threatened him and started kicking rocks at his dog.

    • 5:39 p.m. — A McDonald’s caller said a man was passed out at a table. The man was bloody and looked as though he had been beaten up, the caller said.

House Cleaning

Wednesday, Feb. 16

    • 9:46 a.m. — A State Road 111 caller said someone fell off a horse and went inside the house to lie down. The caller said the victim was having trouble moving.

    • 1:42 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said a woman was running in the area and a man grabbed her and dragged her inside a mobile home.

    • 1:58 p.m. — A Bellas Lane caller said her grandson broke into her house through the window. The caller said her grandson wanted money.

    • 4:56 p.m. — A State Road 76 caller said her house was broken into and “almost everything” was stolen.

    • 7 p.m. — An Española Jail caller said a juvenile male attempted to leave the jail but “didn’t get far.”

    • 7:48 p.m. — A RHOC Express caller complained that there were several “street walkers” in the area.

Bodily Harm Hunch

Thursday, Feb. 17

    • 1:23 a.m. — Santa Clara Tribal Police responded to a fight between tribal members in which one woman was kicked in the face.

    • 12:34 p.m. — A Calle Ranchitos caller said there were people in a black Chevy Silverado having sex. Police checked the vehicle and found that a woman and a man inside were eating.

    • 1:26 p.m. — A Radio Shack caller said someone stole her briefcase which contained paperwork and a “bag of cash” with about $60.

    • 5:30 p.m. — A County Road 545 caller complained that her neighbor’s horses were defecating on her property.

    • 6:02 p.m. — A Wal-Mart caller complained people were stealing baskets that belonged to the store.

    • 8:01 p.m. — A State Road 76 caller complained about two people panhandling in the area. One of the panhandlers, who was wearing a trench coat, started harassing the person who asked them to leave.

    • 8:17 p.m. — A State Road 233 caller said he had a feeling someone was going to hurt or kill him.

Friday, Feb. 18

    • 9:45 a.m. — A Camino Fresca caller said she was told by some of her neighbors that people were walking around the area looking into homes.

    • 11:32 a.m. — An Española Valley High School caller said students jumped the fence and went running to Zia Estates. Police said they had three people in custody.

    • 12:17 p.m. — A Lucero Center caller said someone tried to hot-wire the recreational van and broke one of its windows.

    • 2:55 p.m. — A Valley Drive caller said a man was wearing an orange hunting outfit and walking with a rifle near Valley Estates.

    • 4:11 p.m. — A Shoe Dept. caller said a man was pushing a woman against one of the windows of the store.

    • 7:50 p.m. — A Domino’s Pizza caller said a woman was passed out in front of the business. The caller took the woman inside, but the woman woke up and ran off in the direction of State Road 30.

    • 8:52 p.m. — A Calle Bustos caller said there were two drunk people at her home and she wanted them to leave.

Skeet-Shooting Burglars

Saturday, Feb. 19

    • 12:03 a.m. — A Century Bank caller said some people said they were being followed through town.

    • 12:22 a.m. — A Private Drive 1606 caller said he needed an officer because someone was knocking on his window.

    • 12:45 a.m. — An East Don Filigonio caller said his brother came home drunk and was making “weird noises.” The caller said his brother cut his wrists.

    • 9:03 a.m. — A Private Drive 1013 caller said a drunk man in khaki pants and no shirt was running around his yard.

    • 4:14 p.m. — An El Paisano caller said someone tried to break into her home and she shot at them with birdshot. She told police she did not know if she hit the burglar.

    • 6:37 p.m. — A Walgreens caller said they detained a shoplifter who tried stealing a bottle of Canadian Mist.

    • 9:56 p.m. — A State Road 76 caller said there were two vehicles in the parking lot that were not allowing some girls to leave.

Sunday, Feb. 20

    • 12:55 p.m. — A North Paseo De Oñate caller complained that there were juveniles dressed in black who were climbing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall.

    • 3:17 p.m. — A Center Market caller said a shoplifter was trying to punch employees.

    • 5:02 p.m. — A BaskinRobbins caller said a man who appeared to be very drunk fell off his bike in the drive-thru.

    • 7:25 p.m. — A Santa Clara Apartments caller said a man was fighting with a woman. The caller said the woman’s hair was messed up and the man had her in a choke-hold.

    • 9:57 p.m. — A Taos Lane caller said someone was accusing him of kidnapping children.
