Police Blotter: Invisible People Use Witchcraft to Harass Woman

The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies or State Police responded to the following calls:

  

Quit whistling

April 10

4:34 a.m. A man in a truck was in front of Speedway and the staff was afraid to go inside and open the store. They wanted an officer to disperse him.

5:07 a.m. A man was hitting a woman as they were walking on Riverside Drive near the Española Car wash.

6:36 a.m. A burglary in progress was reported on Calle River and Gordon Lane.

7:59 a.m. A woman said a homeless person walked in front of her and hit her window, now he’s lying on the ground at Fairview Lane and North Riverside Drive. It was determined the man was hit by a car.

8:19 a.m. A woman reported an elderly woman was taken to her house and “had an accident” and was not well. She didn’t say what was wrong with the woman other than she was out in the cold all night and had a bloody nose.

8:45 a.m. A Starlighter Loop caller said there are tents near his fence and he doesn’t want them there because “they” light fires.

9:47 a.m. A student at the Española Middle School was in possession of a THC wax pen.

10:32 a.m. An El Llano Road caller heard gunshots near his house around 5 a.m.

11:12 a.m. A caller said his bike was stolen from outside Country Farm Supply.

12:33 p.m. A Dixon caller reported a man stole items from his house, to include a gun and might be on the way to Albuquerque to sell them for drugs.

12:43 p.m. An overdose was reported at Bubble Zone.

12:43 p.m. An Alcalde caller said her sister is locked out of the house. A dispatcher told her to call a locksmith but she insisted on having an officer respond.

1:05 p.m. Shots were fired near Lowe’s Home Improvement.

2:42 p.m. A shirtless man tried to jump in front of a vehicle in Hernandez.

3:06 p.m. A fight involving multiple students was reported at McCurdy Charter School.

3:38 p.m. A Coyote caller said a dog was stuck under her shed and it attacked her.

4:18 p.m. A Medanales caller reported the neighbors have been shooting a gun.

4:33 p.m. A Walmart caller said someone took her phone and put it into one of the cash machines.

4:49 p.m. An 11-year-old student threatened a 12-year-old student with scissors at Alcalde Elementary.

4:58 p.m. The person who reported the Alcalde student from the previous call phoned again and said there was a second situation in which the student that made threats, went under the stalls and took photos of another student and the parent believes the pictures may have been posted on social media.

5:10 p.m. An Ash Loop caller said a drunk man is outside of a house, screaming and lying in the road.

5:33 p.m. A man tried to jump in front of an officer’s vehicle at Lowe’s Home Improvement.

6:29 p.m. An ATV flipped at Prairie Dog and two people were airlifted to the hospital, while a third was transported via ambulance.

8:08 p.m. An El Rito caller reported a man is shooting from his house.

9:27 p.m. A dog attacked another dog at the Española Pathways Shelter and the owners began yelling at each other. Officers were unable to separate the dogs or the owners, but they were finally separated.

10:28 p.m. A Calle Sierra Vista caller said a man has been walking up and down the road, whistling and they want him to leave.

11:27 p.m. A caller heard shots fired on Angel Duran Drive and North Prince Drive.

 

The cops are coming!

April 11

1:09 a.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller said her sister is going crazy and yelling that the cops are coming.

7:02 a.m. A man called the suicide hotline saying he was en route from Albuquerque to Taos, to jump off the gorge Bridge. The man was intercepted near the Eagles on South Riverside Drive.

7:22 a.m. An officer helped State Police who were trying to pull over a carjacking suspect near the Dreamcatcher theater, but the car turned around and headed back toward Pojoaque.

8:45 a.m. A Walgreens caller said a woman went in to buy alcohol and left her child in the car.

9:46 a.m. A student at the Ohkay Owingeh Community School was using profanity and being disorderly.

9:53 a.m. A caller said his girlfriend was following him around the house, harassing him and calling him names.

10:15 a.m. A caller reported four or five men were pulling another man toward the back of Lowe’s Home Improvement.

11:30 a.m. A Chimayó caller said a man wearing all-black beat her up and took her purse at the bus stop.

11:43 a.m. An ambulance was requested for a minor that was lethargic and dizzy on Industrial Park Road.

12:28 p.m. A Truchas caller said her boyfriend was going through her phone and accused her of talking to other guys. He kicked her and shoved her to the ground, then continued to beat her up.

1:59 p.m. An officer went to Kennedy Loop in regard to someone surrendering a gun.

2:20 p.m. A Lyden caller reported he was farming and the neighbor came up to him and began yelling at him and threatening to kill him.

2:46 p.m. A man and woman were in a physical altercation on Calle Jose de la Cruz.

2:49 p.m. A caller said a person was jumping in and out of the windows at the Santa Clara Apartments.

2:59 p.m. A caller reported a truck had three children in the bed and was driving recklessly.

3:01 p.m. A Walgreens caller said a van keeps moving to different parking spots.

3:11 p.m. A caller reported a person in a truck at Northern New Mexico College appeared to be shooting up or using drugs.

3:19 p.m. A JoAnn’s Restaurant caller said a man hit her with a bar. She isn’t injured but wants to press charges.

4:34 p.m. An Española Hospital caller reported a psych patient fled the emergency room.

4:44 p.m. A Walmart caller said the family of a recently fired employee was being disorderly.

5:13 p.m. A woman in a truck was yelling at the Mountain Center.

5:41 p.m. A truck with hay in the back was on fire in Truchas.

6:26 p.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller said her boyfriend was getting physical with her.

6:43 p.m. Three men in a truck were arguing with customers in the Avanyu parking lot and starting fights.

7:22 p.m. A caller reported a 12-year-old girl got hit in the head at a softball game at Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park.

7:32 p.m. A Calle Sierra Vista caller said his car was stolen from his front yard.

9:31 p.m. A Food King caller reported children are in the parking lot, throwing rocks at cars.

9:13 p.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller said a woman has been yelling at her.

10:52 p.m. A Velarde caller reported someone ran up her steps and banged on her door. When she went to check, there was no one there.

11:41 p.m. A caller wanted to speak with an officer because her grandfather is back home and she feels unsafe.

12:33 a.m. A caller requested the Ohkay Owingeh Police Department because there was a physical fight that happened at the Double O and the parties were at the casino.

2:41 a.m. A caller said she was behind O’Reilly’s and had issues with her boyfriend, who kept putting hands on her.

8:09 a.m. A Denny’s manager reported the Del Taco drive-thru window is open and she’s not sure if there’s anyone inside.

9:42 a.m. A person was wrapped in a blanket and passed out on the stairs behind the All State building.

9:46 a.m. A caller asked for a deputy to contact a family in Tierra Amarilla, to tell them their family member is in a coma in Albuquerque.

10:38 a.m. A La Mesilla caller said she got a call from a restricted number and the person said they have her son and are going to kill him. However, her son is OK.

1:39 p.m. A drunk-sounding Tierra Amarilla caller said the neighbor are harassing him.

2:52 p.m. A caller saw two men fighting at the Fairview Sonic.

2:53 p.m. A Family Dollar in Chama caller reported a man was yelling obscenities at an employee and he’s not allowed in the store.

3:40 p.m. A Hernandez caller said his property was broken into yesterday and they have it on camera.

4:33 p.m. A caller reported a man is behind the Dollar Tree in Española and is throwing rocks in the road.

5:10 p.m. A man was lying on the sidewalk near Subway and someone was doing CPR.

5:29 p.m. A stolen vehicle was seen near Lil Kim’s Salon and recovered.

5:46 p.m. A woman was falling asleep standing up outside Center Market.

8:28 p.m. A woman was walking around outside 420 Emporia, harassing customers then went inside and threatened an employee.

8:45 p.m. An overdose was reported near Rue 21. Two doses of Narcan were administered.

April 13

1:08 a.m. An overdose was reported in Hernandez. Four doses of Narcan were administered.

5:44 a.m. A Santo Niño Lane caller said people were messing with something outside her mother’s house.

8:01 a.m. A Camino de Duran caller caught someone trying to break into the house.

9:51 a.m. A Hernandez caller said someone is outside his house, trying to hurt him.

11:21 a.m. A caller reported eight people are on the side of the building, doing drugs and throwing trash and needles everywhere.

12:19 p.m. A caller said a man and woman in a car on North McCurdy Road appear to be doing drugs.

12:26 p.m. A caller reported her boyfriend strangled her and stole her belongings.

12:35 p.m. A man’s death was reported on County Road 69.

12:51 p.m. A Las Lomas Apartments caller said her ex-sister-in-law bugged her house and copied her phone and is on her network.

1:11 p.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller got attacked by a woman that walked into her house after the police left.

1:41 p.m. A woman went into a yard and asked the homeowners to call the police because a man was hitting her and not leaving her alone.

2:09 p.m. An overdose was reported on Calle de Pajarito.

7:35 p.m. A Calle de Amor caller said a man keeps coming at her with a knife.

7:56 p.m. A McDonald’s caller reported someone is making death threats to him.

8:12 p.m. A Family Dollar in Abiquiú caller said five children were inside, eating things and threatened the cashier.

8:19 a.m. An inmate was swinging at a detention officer at the Rio Arriba County Detention Center.

9:30 a.m. A caller said a mattress and bed frame were stolen from his house.

9:44 a.m. A Velarde caller reported paying a contractor $8,400 to work on their house but the man took out the old shower and never went back to install the new shower.

10:28 a.m. An Ohkay Casino security guard asked a man to step out of a vehicle and saw a gun.

10:55 a.m. A caller said his father stole his keys and credit cards.

1:06 p.m. A caller reported being chased down the street by a man who threw something at her near Wells Fargo Bank.

1:14 p.m. A Calle Don Alfredo caller said a man may have broken into his neighbor’s house and is still inside.

3:40 p.m. A Velarde caller reported her daughter is having a meltdown.

3:41 p.m. Two men had a verbal altercation at 420 Emporia.

4:12 p.m. A North Riverside Drive caller said his ex-girlfriend hit him in the head with a rock.

4:14 p.m. A woman went to EPD to file a report for fraud after her credit card was used to pay at bill at the City of Española.

4:29 p.m. An East Roman Drive caller said a man is sending her child Facebook messages and threatening him.

4:29 p.m. A caller reported their gun was stolen. It was determined to be a Taos County case.

6:02 p.m. An East Roman Drive caller said men at the end of the road are up to no good. The caller phoned again and said they are not men but children and they are throwing their arms up and trying to pick fights with people.

7:12 p.m. A caller’s credit card was stolen and used at Lowe’s Home Improvement.

8:35 p.m. A caller said a man carrying a knife and brass knuckles was kicked out of Walmart and threatened staff.

10:19 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported three people were walking behind houses and when he went out with his dog and a flashlight, they took off running.

April 15

7:01 a.m. A Roadrunner Drive caller said two vehicles were broken into.

8:07 a.m. A McDonald’s caller reported someone tried to snatch her purse while she was at the drive-thru.

8:56 a.m. A man with a duffel bag was loitering inside the Lucero Center lobby and making employees uncomfortable.

10:20 a.m. A caller said an Amazon driver was driving fast and throwing things out her window.

12:07 p.m. A caller wanted to report damage to her vehicle at the Ohkay Casino.

12:38 p.m. An overdose was reported in Chamita.

4:20 p.m. A caller said two juveniles and two adults near Calle Redonda and El Llano Road might be doing drugs.

7:19 p.m. The Ojo Caliente fire chief reported a firefighter went to a controlled burn and someone threatened him.

8 p.m. A woman went into Speedway and asked an employee to call the police because she was being harassed.

8:49 p.m. An overdose was reported on East Laguna Street. Two doses of Narcan were administered.

9:03 p.m. A caller said a man went to her house and told her daughter that he would kill her.

9:08 p.m. A caller reported she has court tomorrow and people are posting on Facebook that they are going to her hearing and want to hurt or kill her.

April 16

6:45 a.m. A Velarde caller said her sister is breaking windows.

9:30 a.m. An Abiquiú caller reported someone in a car threw a rock at her.

9:43 a.m. A caller said a man called him to report a dead body on his property.

10:48 a.m. An overdose was reported in Chimayó. Two doses of Narcan were administered.

11:01 a.m. A Northern New Mexico College student was involved in an altercation and said he had a gun and was going to get it.

1:32 p.m. A Fairview Elementary caller wanted to file a report for a teacher grabbing a student.

2:37 p.m. A Southwest Cannabis caller said a car pulled up next to her, the person inside flashed a badge and said he was an officer, then ordered her to pull over. The man was shirtless and driving a pickup truck full of scrap metal.

3:18 p.m. A caller reported a man walking in the Santo Niño Mobile Home Park was flipping people off.

4:43 p.m. An Alcalde caller said someone went into her house and took documents.

5:17 p.m. A Camino de Roberto caller reported children playing basketball broke the window on her vehicle.

6:03 p.m. A caller said a man is doing drugs in a car near Valdez Park; he can smell the chemicals.

6:12 p.m. A Family Dollar in Hernandez employee reported a man who was banned is threatening to return to the store.

6:58 p.m. A caller said on Monday, an employee at Subway threw a sandwich at her and she wants to file a report.

9:13 p.m. An Alcalde caller reported her sisters, a woman and two men are harassing her, using witchcraft and making themselves invisible.

10:18 p.m. A caller said three people seem to be on something because they are acting weird.

10:50 p.m. An overdose was reported in Alcalde. Seven doses of Narcan were administered.

10:58 p.m. An Española Hospital caller requested an office for an assault that happened at Santa Cruz Lake.
