    Española Police, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:

Materials’ Theft

Monday, May 10

    • 12:06 a.m. — A State Road 7 caller said some people in two vehicles were selling cocaine at the Las Lomas Apartments.

    • 7:22 a.m. — A Windstream Communications caller reported someone broke into the North Riverside Drive business and stole 4,000 feet of copper cable.

    • 8:30 a.m. — A State Road 76 caller reported a woman in a wheelchair was partially in the road near the Santa Cruz Post Office.

    • 8:56 a.m. — A Las Lomas apartments caller reported someone broke into his car and stole CDs and thyroid medication.

    • 3:17 p.m. — Someone broke into the Española Ranger District and stole several items including fencing material.

    • 4:12 p.m. — A Santa Clara Pueblo caller reported an adult was threatening an 8-year-old child who walked through a yard.

    • 9:47 p.m. — There was a fight on Camino De Roberto involving three people, one of whom had hit someone with a crowbar. Police said there were no patients and an ambulance was not needed.

Tuesday, May 11

    • 9:42 a.m. — Mesa Vista High School students were caught with alcohol at school.

    • 11:32 a.m. — A Rio Arriba County Senior Program caller reported an envelope containing $50 was stolen.

    • 12:21 p.m. — Two male students were accused of fighting at Española Valley High School.

    • 1:27 p.m. — A power line caught fire near the Embudo Post Office on State Road 68.

    • 3:05 p.m. — A bomb threat was reported at Victory Faith Church on Angel Duran Drive. Police didn’t find anything, according to 911 dispatch logs.

    • 4:04 p.m. — The wind blew a tree down on a cabin at the Riverbend Lodge on Highway 64/84.

    • 4:38 p.m. — A dog was stolen from the Española Animal Shelter on Hamm Parkway, a caller reported.

    • 5:28 p.m. — A Highway 84 caller said an intoxicated man was attempting to fight him. He did not know whether the man was armed.

    • 6:13 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said there were two men in the area punching each other in the face. One of the men was wearing a muscle shirt.

    • 8:26 p.m. — Española Police responded to a call of a suicidal man who cut himself in the parking lot of the Dialysis Center. Police took the blade away from him, and he was treated by medical workers, according to an Española Police report.

Guns, Fire and Booze

Wednesday, May 12

    • 12:28 a.m. — A County Road 69 caller reported an intoxicated man was blasting music around a large bonfire and carrying a shotgun. Three shots were fired, according to dispatch logs.

    • 6:30 a.m. — A brush fire was reported near the Dixon Post Office.

    • 8:48 a.m. — Española Police investigated a call from Española Valley High School. A student there was accused of possessing marijuana.

    • 11:03 a.m. — State Game and Fish Department officers gave away the meat from a deer that was put down after being hit on State Road 112.

    • 11:44 a.m. — Two Española Middle School students were accused of possessing marijuana.

    • 11:54 a.m. — A syringe was found near the skate park at Valdez Park, a caller reported.

    • 4:52 p.m. — Two women were fighting near the Las Lomas Apartments. One woman was hit and bleeding from the mouth.

Thursday, May 13

    • 6:37 a.m. — There was a motor vehicle crash on State Road 68, in which one woman injured her leg, according to dispatch logs.

     • 8:09 a.m. — A Hindi Shell Station caller said another man grabbed his wallet and ran.

    • 9:51 a.m. — A State Road 68 caller reported seeing a loose buffalo. Police checked to see if anyone was missing a buffalo.

    • 11:24 a.m. — A Laguna Street caller reported someone threw a brick through the residence and stole a DVD player and movies.

    • 12:15 p.m. — A small fire on the roof of a Jack Rabbit Trail home was extinguished, according to dispatch logs.

    • 1:27 p.m. — Staff at Cook’s True Value reported a check bounced when a customer attempted to buy a power blower. The customer grabbed the check and left with the item.

    • 4:23 p.m. — A Wendy’s caller reported her tires were slashed.

Friday, May 14

    • 3:06 a.m. — A caller said she woke up and heard someone knocking on her windows.

    • 3:46 a.m. — A South Riverside Drive caller near the Hacienda Home Center said four vehicles were parked near the entrance of the business. They were newspaper delivery people, according to the log.

    • 7:21 a.m. — There was a downed power line on North Railroad Avenue and Calle Del Alamo, a caller reported.

    • 7:38 a.m. — A woman on Rhianna Road saw the police coming and ran into some bushes. The police could not find the woman.

    • 2:10 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller near Walmart complained that someone was selling dogs in the parking lot.

    • 4:08 p.m. — A man who was urinating in the parking lot of the Ohkay Casino was escorted off the premises.

    • 6:30 p.m. — A County Road 101 man reported someone broke into his house, urinated and ejaculated on his bedspread and vomited in his bathroom. This happened while the resident was out of town.

Saturday, May 15

    • 8:55 a.m. — A West Hill Street caller reported that a cat had been on top of a light pole for the past two days. The fire department was called and later noted that the cat came down.

    • 12:56 p.m. — A child was left inside a car parked at Walmart, a caller reported.

    • 2:23 p.m. — Police took a man to the Española Jail who had been walking by Avenida Canada claiming he lost his soul, his head was caving in and the devil was trying to kill his nephew.

    • 11:52 p.m. — Española Police took a report of graffiti on the north- and south-side windows of Española Elementary.

Cemetery Brawl

Sunday, May 16

    • 1:07 p.m. — A Calle Duran caller reported a breaking and entering, telling police a DVD player and videogame system had been stolen from the residence. The suspects in the case were driving a green Honda with primer on the hood and Texas license plates.

    • 3:52 p.m. — A brush fire was reported on federal land off State Road 111.

    • 7:25 p.m. — State Police investigated reports of a “very large fight” at the Chamita cemetery.
