Pedestrians Create Trouble
Monday, June 8
• 1:24 a.m. — A McDonald’s employee said three drunk men in the parking lot, one on a bicycle and two on foot, were bothering customers and damaging the McDonald’s sign. Police determined the drunken customers were trying to order, and McDonald’s wouldn’t let them because they weren’t in a vehicle. They were dispersed.
• 12:44 p.m. — A Canada Court caller said an unwanted man showed up at her home. She said a previous time when she had told him to leave, he threatened to hurt her. No report was wanted.
• 4:59 p.m. — A caller said two buses full of “Rainbow People” were urinating in a parking lot, chasing cars and panhandling. The “Rainbow People” told police they would be eating lunch and then would be leaving the area.
• 11:58 p.m. — The “Rainbow People” were reportedly sleeping in their vehicles near the river.
Hide and Seek Game Ends in Detox
Tuesday, June 9
• 12:29 a.m. — A North Orchard Drive caller said her demented neighbor sold her a diamond ring and didn’t write a receipt. The neighbor’s brother, who has custody of her affairs, wanted the ring back. They were referred to the courts.
• 12:44 a.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller said a man on the other side of the wall was throwing bags by building six, then ducking down to conceal himself. Police found the man when he jumped out of some boxes in the Rent-A-Center parking lot. He was detoxed.
• 4:44 p.m. — A man was urinating in the middle of the street, a Chacoma Lane caller said. Police found only a case of beer and a big wet spot.
In-laws Blamed for Theft
Wednesday, June 10
• 1:16 p.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller said her neighbor was harassing her. The neighbor had launched 20 complaints with the landlord about her children being too loud since they moved in the week before. She said the neighbor was also peeking in to her apartment. Police took a report for harassment.
• 8:25 p.m. — A Paseo de Paulina caller said his neighbor was spray painting with a compressor, and the smell was coming into his house. Police told the neighbor to stop spraying; the neighbor replied he had already stopped.
• 9:48 p.m. — A Private Drive 1612 caller said her in-laws took her husband’s pickup truck, and asked to be escorted to their house to retrieve it. The truck was not at the in-laws’ house.
Dead Dog Used To Send Message
Thursday, June 11
• 12:24 a.m. — A caller said a man was loading his truck with rocks from a storage area near Walgreens. Police talked to the man, and he unloaded the rocks.
• 8:29 a.m. — A County Road 68 caller said a very large brown bear was in the neighbor’s yard. The state Game and Fish Department was contacted.
• 9:50 a.m. — A Starlighter Loop caller said a post office employee told him to call police after two families in a blue Winstar van picked up his mail.
• 11:20 a.m. — A Calle del Rio caller said her crack-addicted sister wanted to pick up her mother from a nursing home and take her home. Police did a welfare check.
• 12:57 p.m. — A caller said her children’s father was on OxyContin and Valium. The accused man called police and said the woman called him every day and pounded on his windows saying she didn’t want anything to do with him until he went to Narcotics Anonymous — but he wasn’t on drugs. She was dispersed from the area.
• 3:17 p.m. — A caller said he lent his debit card to a coworker to go buy some drinks, and $450 was withdrawn from his account. Police met with the alleged suspect and determined the caller lied to police and his parents.
• 4:40 p.m. — A Private Drive 1025 caller said someone stole his rake and alfalfa machine. Police took a report for larceny of farm equipment.
• 5:00 p.m. — A Coral Lane caller said people were attempting to set up camp behind her house. The call was transferred to another agency.
• 10:31 p.m. — A Private Drive 1143 caller said her neighbor threw a dead dog on her property with a note. Police told the man to pick up the carcass.
Don’t Cry over Bagged Milk
Friday, June 12
• 6:43 a.m. — A caller said someone left a plastic bag containing a white liquid near the Santa Cruz Post Office. Hazardous Materials workers determined it was not a hazardous material, and was possibly milk.
• 9:35 a.m. — A Birch Lane caller said a man he had given a ride stole Vicodin from his car. Police took a report for larceny.
• 1:59 p.m. — A West Pueblo Street caller said a drunk woman was lying on her porch and becoming aggressive. She was given a ride home.
• 4:45 p.m. — A State Road 95 caller said a woman on drugs was trying to break the door down and gain entry to the house. Police determined the woman just wanted to get her dog, and did.
• 5:34 p.m. — A caller said they saw someone burying something very large at an El Rito campground. Deputies determined it appeared someone was digging in the area, but all they buried was a pile of wood.
• 8:59 p.m. — A woman said a man outside Wal-Mart was yelling out “sex doll” and she got scared and ran to her car. Police couldn’t find anyone suspicious.

Saturday, June 13
• 8:31 a.m. — An Espinoza Lane caller said a man was walking with a beer can in his hand, firing firecrackers and yelling something about finding a dog. Police couldn’t find him.
• 10:16 a.m. — A State Road 68 caller was very angry because his neighbor was putting a fence on his property. He said he was about to take matters into his own hands. The call was transferred to another agency.
• 10:45 a.m. — A Motel 6 employe said a customer left the coffee running and was now wanting to confront him for calling the cops.
• 1:36 p.m. — A County Road 88 caller said he was being harassed by some people who burglarized his house and claimed he ratted them out. Police took a report.
• 3:44 p.m. — A County Road 59 caller said her cat had been stuck in a tree for three days and spraying it with water didn’t work. The Velarde Volunteer Fire Department assisted with the call.
Tough Sell with Gun-Wielding Man Nearby
Sunday, June 14
• 10:08 a.m. — A caller said he went with a real estate agent to inspect a State Road 74 home that was for sale, and a man in a modular home nearby was walking around with a handgun and a rifle making threats. The caller said he didn’t believe the gun-wielding man was talking to him, but was making threats in general. Police did a welfare check.
• 12:21 p.m. — A caller said flowers she had planted at a grave site in the Santa Cruz cemetery were gone when she returned. She said she saw a Mercury Cougar parked close to the road, and its occupants had crowbars. Police couldn’t find them.
