Española Police officers, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police and State Police responded to the following calls:
Snowball Tossers Monday, Dec. 15
• 12:12 p.m. — A Supertan Plus employee said they didn’t want a man to be in the store, and he didn’t want to leave. He left before police arrived.
• 6:17 p.m. — A caller said two children threw a snowball at his car and then ran into Arby’s. He man went into Arby’s but the employees refused to give any information. No report was taken, as police were unable to locate damage on the windshield.
• 8:09 p.m. — A La Joya Street caller said some children were throwing snowballs at cars passing by and hiding behind trees and bushes. Police couldn’t find them.
Heroin Saleswoman Tuesday, Dec. 16
• 10:01 a.m. — A caller said his neighbor was fighting with him. The neighbor had accused the caller of moving the fence and threatened to hit him. The caller said he didn’t know what his neighbor was talking about. He claimed he had moved the fence in order to get by and go to the post office, and then put it back the way it was. No report was taken.
• 4:53 p.m. — A caller requested a welfare check be done on a man who fell off his bicycle near Valley National Bank. When the man got up, he looked a little shaken up. Police couldn’t find him.
• 4:55 p.m. — A caller said a woman in an Altima parked at Wal-Mart was selling black tar heroin to juveniles. Police didn’t find any criminal activity.
• 5:37 p.m. — A Calle Algodones caller said a suspect hit her in the face. The caller sounded extremely drunk but denied drinking when dispatchers asked if she had been. Finally she became irate and hung up the phone.
Drunk Takes Nap in Wendy’s Bathroom
Wednesday, Dec. 17
• 5:40 a.m. — A North Yucca Street caller said his neighbor broke into his house and stole his cigarettes, clothes and four 12-packs of beer. The caller asked officers to follow dog tracks for clues to who did it, and blamed his neighbors, although they had been evicted and the house they used to live in was vacant.
• 5:12 p.m. — A Wendy’s employee said a drunk man was asleep in the bathroom. He was gone when police arrived.
• 10:26 p.m. — A Chili’s Restaurant employee said another staff member quit and walked out with $30 of the restaurant’s money. Police took a report.
‘Shadowy Figure’
Thursday, Dec. 18
• 1:08 p.m. — A Giant Gas Station caller said a man had been in the bathroom for 20 minutes yelling with someone on the phone. Police found the bathroom caller appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol but was otherwise okay.
• 1:41 p.m. — An East Pueblo Drive caller said there were some footprints of someone going through his yard, and he saw a “shadowy figure” by his den window. No one was found.
• 6:18 p.m. — A Wal-Mart employee said a woman reported being robbed by two other girls in the store. Police took a report for assault.
Truck Cuts Off Cop
Friday, Dec. 19
• 7:54 a.m. — Police responded to a report of a man passed out at the Allsup’s on Riverside Drive. It turned out to be an elderly gentleman who was “doing scratchers.” No report was taken.
• 8:42 a.m. — A man at Las Lomas Apartments was selling pills out of a white truck, a caller reported. Española Police made contact with the man, who denied any wrongdoing. Police advised him to stay away from the area.
• 8:47 a.m. — A male Sandy Lane caller said a woman was attacking his sister. The woman had pulled a knife on him earlier but he was able to take it away, he said. The alleged assailant then called and said the brother and sister had attacked her and she complained of a knee injury. The sister was arrested.
• 8:55 a.m. — A North Central Solid Waste Authority truck cut off an Española Police sergeant while he was traveling near the new post office on Industrial Park Road. A citation was issued.
• 11:01 a.m. — Three men were taken to the Española Jail after police found them drunk at a party in an abandoned building on Calle Olivas.
• 6 p.m. — A Fairview Lane caller reported that because of an accident, “vehicles are driving crazy” and not stopping at lights. She requested officers patrol the area.
• 7:40 p.m. — A Spanish-speaking woman on Indian Way in Santa Cruz reported that her daughter was yelling and throwing things. A report was taken.
• 9:54 p.m. — A male caller on Paseo de Oñate told police he wanted to go to the hospital because “it burns really bad” when he uses the bathroom. The matter was referred to another agency.
• 10:04 p.m. — A caller at McDonald’s said someone’s daughter told him “he better watch his ass.”
Traffic Jam Reported
Saturday, Dec. 20
• 11:40 a.m. — A Calle Chamisal caller said Rock Christian Fellowship was giving out food and a line of cars was blocking the driveway. Rock Christian staff moved the line to a side parking lot.
• 3:42 p.m. — A Calle Serrano caller said she witnessed a man with acne, who was wearing all white, pull a woman’s arm. When the caller stopped to investigate, the man threatened her with a rock, she said. When police contacted the alleged victim’s mother, she said police should be “catching criminals and molesters” instead of harassing her and her teenage daughter. Police determined that the argument was only verbal and that nothing physical had occurred.

Sunday, Dec. 21
• 1:25 p.m. — A North Coronado Avenue caller said there were two brown horses just north of Española Hospital. The horses’ owner came and walked them back to a property on Railroad Avenue.
• 1:37 p.m. — A County Road 102 caller said a black Camaro drove by and shot at her house. When police arrived, the alleged victim was speaking with the alleged shooter. The alleged shooter said there had been a dispute earlier at Victory Faith Church. The man said his pills were taken during the dispute, and asked about the police report for that incident. A new report was taken.
• 4:56 p.m. — A caller from Cook’s Trailer Court said some evicted renters had spray-painted “West Side” and other gang-related paraphernalia on their trailer before leaving.
• 6:11 p.m. — A Guachupangue Road caller said her boyfriend hit her on the head with a shoe. No report was taken.
• 6:34 p.m. — A couple was having sex in the bathroom at Wendy’s, a caller reported. The caller said when he tried to open the door, the man grabbed it and “now they are making noises in there.” The couple left before police arrived.
• 10:20 p.m. — A female caller on State Road 115, near Canjilon, said there was a man inside her sister-in-law’s house. When the caller approached the house, she realized she knew the man. He said he didn’t know how he got there. He was drunk and had fallen asleep in the house. The man was taken home by State Police.
