The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Day for Fighting
Nov. 20
3:07 a.m. A woman in Hernandez was very drunk and wanted to go to the hospital.
9 a.m. A caller said several men outside a house behind Dan’s Liquors are fighting and he heard a gunshot.
9:35 a.m. A woman went to EPD to file a report because she has been scammed out of $200,000.
9:40 a.m. A Chama caller said her boyfriend won’t stop hitting her.
9:45 a.m. A caller reported the mother of his children posted online, saying she should have shot him when she had the chance.
10:06 a.m. Electrical wires on the building at the Ranchitos pool were cut.
11:11 a.m. Two inmates attacked another inmate at the Rio Arriba County Detention Center.
11:43 a.m. An overdose was reported in the parking lot of the Española Hospital’s emergency room.
7:46 p.m. A caller reported an overdose in front of O’Reilly’s.
Acting Strange
Nov. 21
7:40 a.m. A woman went to RASO and wanted to file a report because she lost her cash app card and there have been multiple charges at the Ohkay Eaglemart and Ohkay Travel Center.
8:52 a.m. A Medanales caller said her husband hit her in the face, then fled in a truck.
9:27 a.m. A Calle del Rio caller reported his girlfriend was at his house and he was trying to break up with her, but she started to hit herself and wouldn’t leave.
10:59 a.m. A sophomore at Española Valley High School was found locked in the bathroom and was taken to the nurse’s office.
5:25 p.m. A woman was yelling at Pizza Hut employees.
6:49 p.m. A possible fight with a weapon was reported at Socorro’s Restaurant.
9:42 p.m. A Hernandez caller said her son, who lives next door, keeps coming over, asking for money.
10:31 p.m. A Crown Lane caller reported her son is drunk and being aggressive with his girlfriend and infant.
11:30 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman who was acting strange and possibly doing drugs.

Nov. 22
3:28 a.m. A Calle Cunyo caller woke up and found his wife walking into the kitchen; she then removed a knife from where they’re kept. He wants to speak with an officer because he doesn’t feel safe.
7:42 a.m. A Velarde caller said he’s going to kill his family. The caller said he periodically starts fighting the air and he’s walking around outside after they locked him out.
7:59 a.m. A Private Drive 1130 caller reported his motorcycle was taken from his yard overnight.
8:42 a.m. A Mountain View Street caller heard someone from a nearby home screaming, “help, they’re trying to kill me.” The caller thinks there’s some sort of cannibalism going on at the house.
10:06 a.m. A Calle de Pajarito caller said a woman was lying on the side of the road and they stopped to help, but she’s so drunk she can’t stand up.
2:46 p.m. An Alcalde caller requested a welfare check on a tenant who lives on her property because the man’s family asked that she check on him. The man was found cold to the touch and not breathing. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.
3 p.m. A Dixon Co-op caller said a woman is having a mental breakdown; she’s throwing things and hitting herself.
6:34 p.m. A Velarde caller reported her daughter is fighting with her.
7:11 p.m. A caller said a man got run over near the hospital and was being dragged into a car by a woman.
10:33 p.m. A Vista Place caller reported his mom and dad are physically fighting.
10:52 p.m. An overdose was reported on Fog Road. One dose of Narcan was administered.

Nov. 23
2:34 a.m. A woman said she was lured into a man’s house in Ohkay Owingeh and beat up.
8:03 a.m. A Champion Car wash caller reported vacuums were damaged last night.
9:22 a.m. An Alcalde caller said two semi truck tires were stolen from his property.
4:07 p.m. An inmate overdose was reported at the Rio Arriba County Detention Center.
5:09 p.m. An Allstate caller wanted homeless people under the stairs to be removed from the property.
9:25 p.m. A caller requested a tow truck after their vehicle slid off the road on U.S. Highway 64.

7:57 a.m. A vehicle went off a cliff on County Road 61 in Dixon.
9:59 a.m. A caller reported the windows on a business in the Fairview Strip Mall were broken last night and they want to file a report.
11:13 a.m. A man went to the Española Police Department to file a report for a stolen dump truck that was taken more than four months ago.
11:36 a.m. A New Mexico State Police officer was speaking with a man near Holy Cross Church, when another man walked up and said he was shot last night near the Santa Cruz Country Store and his vehicle has a bullet hole.
11:40 a.m. A woman went to EPD to file a report because a woman is slandering her name on social media and at her workplace.
12:15 p.m. A caller reported a gas leak in Ohkay Owingeh that occurred after his company hit a gas line while digging.
12:29 p.m. A Walmart manager was in an argument with two men. The men were told they can’t buy merchandise but tried anyway, and then refused to give it back.
12:54 p.m. A gas leak was reported near Calle Lucia.
1:25 p.m. Two Española Middle School students were in possession.
1:47 p.m. A Medanales caller said someone went into their house through the window and stole around $1,200.
3:46 p.m. A fight between two seventh grade Mesa Vista students was reported.
4:11 p.m. A caller said a man broke into their property and they have a woman at gunpoint.
4:32 p.m. A caller reported someone was setting up a tent behind Ralph’s Locksmith. The reporting officer told the woman to “remove herself” by that evening.
4:37 p.m. An Ohkay Owingeh caller said her grandmother called to tell her that a woman broke into her house and was still there.
4:39 p.m. A Wells Fargo Bank caller reported a man in a car had a straw and foil.
5:31 p.m. A Velarde caller said a cat was stuck in a tree and they were worried that the cat would freeze tonight.
7:39 p.m. A Calle Don Pedro caller reported a man was threatening people, so she hit him. She said the man has a knife and a gun on him and is yelling.
10:35 p.m. Albuquerque Aviation reported that someone was pointing a blue laser in the sky at an aircraft.

7:21 a.m. A caller said a man and woman were arguing in the middle of the road at Fairview Lane and North McCurdy Road.
10:22 a.m. A vehicle collision was reported in Abiquiú and State Police shut down both lanes of travel.
10:49 a.m. An Abiquiú caller said his home was broken into and the only thing he’s missing is his saddle.
12:51 p.m. A Velarde caller wanted to report that her identity was stolen and it may have been her landlord.
1:47 p.m. A Velarde caller who’s been in an ongoing dispute with the neighbor said that this morning, a man was showing inappropriate hand gestures to their camera.
5:11 p.m. A Truchas caller said her 37-year-old daughter is acting up and seems to be under the influence of something.
9:38 p.m. A Fairview Lane caller reported someone hit his window and broke it.
10:18 p.m. A McDonald’s caller said two guys and three girls want her to go outside so they can jump her.
10:26 p.m. A Camino del Sol caller reported her ex locked her in a room for an hour and took her phone and keys. She has scratches on her face and he’s been choking and hitting her.

6:25 a.m. A State Road 369 caller said there was a man in the road and he swerved to avoid him but hit a gas line.
6:43 a.m. An Española Pathways Shelter caller wanted two people trespassed from the shelter.
8:17 a.m. A Chamita caller reported a truck and trailer were stolen from her property.
9:05 a.m. An Abiquiú caller said a man in a car was tailgating her and waving a gun at her. He pulled into the post office.
1:59 p.m. A 15-year-old went to the library to meet a tutor and said the tutor, in his 40s, began asking odd questions.
2:20 p.m. A caller reported $1,040 was withdrawn from her Del Norte Credit Union account.
3:57 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a man on the ground by the McDonald’s drive-thru area. An ambulance was called.
4:01 p.m. A caller reported someone was burning weeds in the area and the fire is close to a house. The fire caught the back of a house in which there were two dogs.
4:26 p.m. A Santa Clara caller said his girlfriend’s daughter gave him an eagle feather fan and he thinks it’s stolen. The man called again to say his girlfriend hit him.
4:36 p.m. A Starbucks caller reported a man was panhandling in the drive-thru.
4:50 p.m. A Mykal’s Vapor caller said six homeless people are yelling at each other in front of the store and look like they’re going to fight.
8:49 p.m. A caller reported a man was rummaging through the trash at Calle Don Diego and School Street. They asked him to leave and stop going through the trash but the man ignored them, hopped into a car, and left.
9:31 p.m. A Burger King caller said a homeless couple is outside, filming children in the play area.
11:39 p.m. An Ohkay Casino caller reported a man was being belligerent and disorderly.
