Police Blotter: Terrorist Uses Pointer Light

    Española Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, State Police and Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police responded to the following calls:

Doctor Impersonator

Monday, Dec. 1

    • 10:49 a.m. — A caller said some people in a burgundy Pontiac parked outside of the Una Ala Methadone Clinic were selling drugs and jewelry. One of the men told police he was selling his own personal DVDs and was advised he needed a city permit to be selling stuff.

    • 11:59 a.m. — A Wal-Mart pharmacy employee said a woman was trying to call in her own prescription. Police took a report for prescription fraud.

Man Takes Off Pants

Tuesday, Dec. 2

    • 1:19 a.m. — An East Buena Vista Street caller said a man who appeared drunk was trying to break a window. The caller also said he saw an officer getting assaulted. Police determined all officers were okay and the caller was lying. The drunk man was detoxed.

    • 9:34 a.m. — A Calle Cielo Lindo caller said she and her neighbor had been having problems, and her neighbor went to her house 20 minutes prior to this call and threatened to hit her. No report was taken.

    • 11:21 a.m. — A Valley Superette employee said a drunk shoplifter stole some sunglasses. The suspect paid for the sunglasses, and was detoxed.

    • 1:46 p.m. — A Santa Clara Apartments caller said a man walking down the street appeared to be very high on something and was trying to take off his pants. He was not found.

Truck Theft Thwarted

Wednesday, Dec. 3

    • 10:52 p.m. — A Private Drive 1037 caller said he and his girlfriend were fighting and he asked her to leave several times. The girlfriend said her ex-boyfriend was always getting in the middle of her current relationship and that’s what started the altercation. She called back and said everything was okay.

    • 11:11 p.m. — A caller said a man had been inside an old pickup truck north of Dandy Burger for a couple of hours. The man was discovered trying to start the truck with a screwdriver, and claimed the truck belonged to his mother-in-law from Colorado. However, the name he gave didn’t match the vehicle information. He left on foot. 

Brother Took Pills

Thursday, Dec. 4

    • 3:02 a.m. — A caller said a very intoxicated man in the Rancho de Chimayó parking lot was “holding himself up to a truck.” Then the caller said the man was trying to drive the truck toward Española, but its tires were flat. Officers were advised.

    • 5:25 a.m. — A Jemez View Street caller said her friend was withholding her Social Security check. She was referred to the courts.

    • 5:34 p.m. — A County Road 1 caller said he had a restraining order on his brother, but the brother came to his house and told him to get dressed because the family had been in an accident. By the time the caller got dressed, he discovered his brother was gone and so were all his pills. Police told him to call back if the brother returned.

Friday, Dec 5

    • 7:44 a.m. — A Big Rock Chevron caller said a man wearing a green outfit and sunglasses smelled like he was intoxicated and she didn’t want him there. He was gone when police arrived.

    • 10:44 a.m. — A Calle Rivera caller said she was getting calls from a younger male, and he was shining a pointer light in her window at night. She said she asked the man, “So you’re a terrorist then?” and he replied yes and said he was going to hold her hostage. Police patrolled the area.

    • 1:07 p.m. — A caller said one person was chasing another person with a rock near Los Arcos Restaurant. One of the people was detoxed.

    • 6:22 p.m. — An El Llano caller said his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend were threatening him because of a custody issue and broke his window.

Drugs in Bedpost

Saturday, Dec. 6

    • 3:01 a.m. — A Comfort Inn clerk said a woman showed up and stated she was assaulted at Motel 6. The clerk felt bad for her and rented her a room but said the male assailant wasn’t allowed in. Later the clerk saw the woman sneak him in the room. Officers were advised.

    • 10:53 a.m. — An Antelope Drive caller said someone stole two saddles from his porch. Police took a report.

    • 1:24 p.m. — A Hacienda Home Center employee said a shoplifter fled but people he came there with were still at the store. A second caller said he came to the hardware store to buy a chain and they didn’t have it, but the employees were accusing his friend of stealing. Police took a report for shoplifting.

    • 9:30 p.m. — A Shadowood Lane caller said a woman was possibly selling drugs to minors and had the drugs and money hidden in her bedpost. The address she gave did not exist.

Soda Spill

Sunday, Dec. 7

    • 1:16 p.m. — A caller said she asked her husband to get out of her car after he spilled some Coca-Cola, but he refused to leave. 911 Dispatchers called back for more information but the caller hung up.

    • 2:53 p.m. — A Los Arboles Street caller said he returned home and found “bags of poop.” “It appears they lit the bags on fire and threw it on the porch,” the caller told dispatch. Police took an informational report and the bags were removed by the owner.

    • 6:43 p.m. — A State Road 96 caller said someone used his chainsaw to flatten his brother’s truck tires and then left to get a weapon. The call was transferred to a different agency.

    • 6:45 p.m. — A Highway 84 caller said his drunk 21-year-old son almost lit the house on fire. He said his son left the stove on, and there was smoke in the house. Police determined no criminal activity occurred, noting “this is a parenting plan issue.”
