Española Police, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:

Ex-Tenant Cussed Out

Monday, Aug. 25

• 8:46 a.m. — A Drum Place caller said a man was banging on the windows of her house. He was given a ride home.

• 6:27 p.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller said someone broke her window and stole a stereo, tape cassettes and a piggy bank. She said she suspected her upstairs neighbor was the burglar because he was wearing a hat that had also been taken from her apartment.

• 10:47 p.m. — A Lower San Pedro Road caller said she wanted to move out of her place because she had a problem with a man peeping in her window, but her landlord wouldn’t let her. The landlord told the caller she couldn’t accuse someone of transgressions she wasn’t certain had happened. 911 dispatch told the caller it was a civil situation, not a criminal one.

• 11:21 p.m. — A caller said a Wal-Mart cashier, who used to be his landlord, rung up his items, and when he tried to make conversation with her, she started cursing at him.

Clayton Rep Not Found

Tuesday, Aug. 25

• 8:17 p.m. — A North Prince Drive caller said a man was going door to door claiming to be with a company called Clayton and looking into windows. He couldn’t be found.

• 9:10 p.m. — A man on Paseo de Oñate was trying to pull his hair out and hitting his head on a bench, a caller reported. The man refused medical attention.

Air Freshener Hoax

Wednesday, Aug. 26

• 12:59 p.m. — A Shadowood Lane caller said her husband lent her son some tools, but when he took the tools to repair a friend’s vehicle, the friend stole them. “Female does not know what was taken, also the male was very irate and was yelling at me — I advised him to make a list and then call us back,” an officer noted in dispatch logs.

• 1:20 p.m. — A County Road 136B caller said a woman was in the area selling Air Wick air freshener, and she believed it was a hoax. The caller said a beat-up van with several men in it was following the woman, and she believed they were scouting for places to burglarize. Police couldn’t find any criminal activity.

• 5:27 p.m. — A County Road 56 caller said her mother was calling her vulgar names.

Reporting Party Motivated By Hickies

Thursday, Aug. 27

• 1:35 a.m. — A Railroad Avenue caller said her daughter’s boyfriend took her daughter’s vehicle. Police determined the daughter wanted to report the car stolen because the boyfriend came home with hickies.

• 10:22 a.m. — A man made a walk-in report at State Police in Española that someone stole his irrigation pump.

• 7:30 p.m. — A caller said he went to return some lotions he bought at Wal-Mart, and when he got the correct lotions, the cashier at the customer service desk told him she didn’t believe he had purchased the first set of lotions. The caller said he had to wait in line for “a couple of hours” while staff reviewed a surveillance tape, and he was “humiliated in front of everyone.” The caller said there was an attorney in line behind him who offered to represent him in court. He was advised to file a complaint with Wal-Mart.

Crazy Nude

Friday, Aug. 28

• 10:13 a.m. — A Jemez View Street caller said a woman called her and said her sister was hitting her with a stick because she didn’t want her to take her dogs. No report was wanted.

• 12:32 p.m. — A Rio Arriba County Road 2 caller said a man accused her of stealing $40 from him, and then stole her Vicodin and Xanax. Police took a report.

• 4:07 p.m. — An Ohkay Travel Center customer said a clerk was harassing him because he drank half his drink and then wanted a refund.

• 10:47 p.m. — A caller said a completely naked man who appeared to be crazy was walking eastbound on Fairview Lane. He was transported for evaluation.

Victim Deserved It

Saturday, Aug. 29

• 12:11 a.m. — A State Road 76 caller said saw a mountain lion when he pulled up to his house. The call was transferred to the state Game and Fish Department.

• 1:03 a.m. — An East Pueblo Drive caller said he saw a man walking around with guns. The caller was determined to be delusional.

• 8:33 a.m. — An elderly caller said there was blood on the sidewalk in front of another Vista del Norte Apartments unit. Police contacted the occupants, who said they had a little too much to drink the previous night and one of them got a bloody nose in a scuffle. The victim said he didn’t want to make a report, because he deserved to be punched.

Smoker Won’t Quit

Sunday, Aug. 30

• 10:02 a.m. — A Private Drive 1043 caller said a man who was living in his house refused to leave. He said the man claimed to be a priest from Africa when he opened his doors to him. Police found the man had been gone several days and was just returning to get his stuff.

• 10:46 a.m. — A North McCurdy Road caller said a man was sending him text messages threatening to kill him, and the caller believed the only reason he was doing it was because he doesn’t like him. Police took a report for assault.

• 3:26 p.m. – A caller said there was a woman at Embudo Station Restaurant with two dogs who was smoking. She was refusing to leave even after being told to stop smoking.

• 10:56 p.m. — A caller said a man with a crowbar was trying to break into the Rio Grande SUN. Police found no sign of the man and no damage to the door or signs of entry.
