PRESCRIBED BURNS

Published:

Fire Managers on the Tres Piedras Ranger District ignited the 1,200-acre Lagunitas Mountain Meadows prescribed burn last week.          This burn is bordered by Forest Road 87 and 87X in the Largo Canyon drainage. The project is immediately adjacent to the Cruces

Basin Wilderness. Smoke emissions are expected to be of short duration and visible to hunters and visitors in the general vicinity.

The burn is being conducted to consume old and stagnant grasses within the meadow to encourage new growth and increase vigor of the meadow.
