Rio Arriba Youth Pull In $67,000 at County Fair Auction

    The following are the results of the Rio Arriba County Fair’s livestock and baked-goods auctions.

    The Fair was held Aug. 2 to 3 at the Rural Events Center in Abiquiú. Total livestock ring sales were $67,418.55, down about $10,000 from 2007.

Livestock

    • Estevan Atencio sold a rabbit meat pen for $210, to Swift Lube.

    • Jose Luis Archuleta sold a fryer meat pen for $210, to Williams Field Service.

    • Branden Kuykendall sold his grand-prize steer for $2.90 a pound to Honstein Oil, for a total cost of $3,619.20.

    • Branden Kuykendall sold his 284-pound champion swine for $3.10 a pound, also to Honstein Oil.

    • Anthony Martinez sold his grand-prize lamb for $1,053, to Nathan’s Feed.

    • Karissa Sandoval sold Sage Spirit a grand-prize goat for $1,100.

    • Leah Schmitz sold a 1,227-pound reserve-prize steer to Steve Gallegos, of El Sueno, for $3,681.

    • Michael Manzanares sold a reserve-prize swine for $6 a pound (totaling $1,560.00) to Williams Field Service.

    • Justin Ulibarri sold Barela Ranches a 115-pound lamb for $2,760.

    • Justin Sandoval sold his reserve-prize goat to Herman Manzanares for $600.

    • Demetri Valdez sold a 1,172-pound steer for $3,867.60, to Honstein Oil.

    • Amy Tainter sold her 244-pound swine to Devon for $4.40 per pound.

    • Eric Hanniwalt-Maestas sold MFI Transportation a 104-pound lamb at $10 per pound.

    • Cheyenne Law sold a prize-winning goat  to Bobby Tainter Trucking for $500.

    • Alicia Maez sold a 1,300-pound steer for $4,160, to Devon.

    • Michelle Herrera sold her first-place swine for $763.00, to Honstein Oil.

    • Amanda Sandoval sold Sage Spirit a first-place lamb at $13 per pound, for total price of $1,612.

    • Victoria Lovato sold her goat $400.00  to Frank Carrillo of Boars in the Hood.

    • Bo Binion’s 231-pound swine brought in $12 per pound, sold to Barela Ranches.

    • Kevin Vigil sold Honstein Oil his first-place lamb for $1,666.

    • Jacob Maestas sold a 252-pound swine for $1,260, to former Española mayor Richard Lucero’s Country Farm Supply store.

    • Michelle Herrera sold Valley National Bank her second-place steer at $3 per pound, for a total price of  $3,306.

    • Carlos Casados sold a 253-pound swine for $1,012, to Ranch del Oso Pardo.

    • Michael Manzanares sold Country Farm Supply a lamb at $6 per pound, for a total price of $672.

    • Abigail Martinez brought in $950 for her second-place goat, sold to Frank Carrillo.

    • Carlos Casados sold a 1,255-pound steer for $2.25 per pound, to M&R Trucking.

    • Katie Gonzales sold Williams Field Service a 225-pound swine at $6 per pound.

    • Rayann Mora sold a 118-pound lamb for $1,298, to County Assessor Arthur Rodarte.

    • Rosa Martinez sold a goat for $500, to Rincon Blanco Vet.

    • Bobby Tainter sold Mel’s Meat a 1,300-pound steer for $2,925.

    • Jaryd Andersen sold Country Farm Supply a 242-pound swine at $3 per pound.

    • Amanda Sandoval brought in $300 for a second-place goat, sold to Skeeter Faulkner of 4F Cattle.

    • Cadie Casados sold a goat to Maez Ranch for $550.

    • Amy Tainter sold Country Farm Supply a 1,289-pound steer, at $2.50 per pound.

    • Cody Casados sold Tweet Gonzales a 216-pound swine for $864.

    • Camille Martinez sold a third-place lamb to Valley National Bank for $649.

    • Kevin Vigil sold a 1,300-pound steer for $3,250, to Valley National Bank.

    • Enriquez Jaramillo sold a 218-pound swine at $4 per pound, to Country Farm Supply.

    • Bryanna Sandoval sold a steer to Devon for $3,412.50.

    • Christopher Valdez sold a lamb to Honstein Oil for $760.

    • Roman Martinez-Mora sold Rincon Blanco Vet a 116-pound lamb for $696.

    • Leah Schmitz sold a $600 lamb to Donald Martinez, of Zenitram.

    • Bobby Tainter sold a 260-pound swine for $1,092.00 to Tracy Perraglio, of Mark V.

    • Ashley Hardison sold Tweet Gonzales an 80-pound lamb for $10 per pound.
