    Española Police officers, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police and State Police responded to the following calls:

Axe-Wielding Child

Monday, Nov. 3

    • 12:12 p.m. — A Paseo Melendez caller said a friend who had been living with him was no longer wanted at his home, but she refused to leave. She left before police arrived.

    • 3:46 p.m. — A caller said a 9-year-old boy was trying to hit her with an axe. No report was taken.

    • 4:42 p.m. — A County Road 58 caller said he heard two shots fired at his neighbor’s house. It turned out someone was trying to separate two dogs that were fighting.

    • 4:45 p.m. — A west-side Blake’s Lotaburger caller said a man was taking his shirt off and rubbing his chest against the restaurant’s windows. He was gone when police arrived.

    • 6:19 p.m. — A caller said a Toyota pickup bearing pictures of dead fetuses was driving up Riverside Drive, and he didn’t want his children to see it. Police advised they couldn’t do anything unless the vehicle parked.

    • 11:00 p.m. — A Fairview Sonic caller said a man kept asking employees to hook him up. He left after being told police were en route.

Wednesday, Nov. 5

    • 1:29 a.m. — A Calle Ranchitos caller said her son came home drunk and punched her wall. Police took a report.

    • 4:53 a.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said an employee had been vomited on and appeared to be drunk. His brother picked him up.

    • 1:35 p.m. — A McDonald’s employee said a man was asking customers for money, being very rude and refusing to leave. He couldn’t be found.

Thursday, Nov. 6

    • 10:29 a.m. — A Mesa Vista High School employee said a student was refusing to be searched and fighting the staff. No report was taken.

    • 10:47 a.m. — A La Joya Street caller said a highly intoxicated man was in her van. She said she felt sorry for him and let him sleep in the van, but didn’t want him there anymore. He was detoxed.

    • 9:15 p.m. — A Hernandez caller said first a Mustang cut him off and when he tried to pass another car they cut him off. He said the Mustang contained three people, including a young man who was taking off his shirt. He said if officers stopped the vehicle, he wanted to press charges.

Friday, Nov. 7

    • 1:20 a.m. — A County Road 140 caller said he found a small vial of mercury at his house and wanted to know what he had to do to get rid of it. He was put in touch with Rio Arriba Hazardous Materials.

    • 6:35 a.m. —  A Fairview Lane caller requested a drunk man in a Texas shirt be removed from her home. She said she backhanded him across the face because he was trying to wake up. She called 911 a second time to report the man called her a “Navajo (expletive).” Police took an informational report.

    • 12:26 p.m. — A Center Market employee said a shoplifter stole some meat. Police took a report.

    • 4:23 p.m. — A caller said someone stole the battery from his vehicle at the Park ‘n Ride. Police took a report.

    • 6:16 p.m. — A Burger King employee said a man was shouting that he was going to shoot an officer. Police couldn’t find him.

    • 9:49 p.m. — A caller said she could hear a woman in Apple Valley Apartments yelling, “Get out, get out.” No report was taken.

    • 10:30 p.m. — A Giant Gas Station caller said some people in a black car were starting fights, taking off their shirts and stuff. They left before police arrived.

Saturday, Nov. 8

    • 2:45 a.m. — The Comfort Inn manager said some drunk people were about to leave the parking lot in a Chevy Cavalier. They were parked next to her car and she didn’t want them to damage it. Police determined that the parties were involved in a civil dispute and no one was driving drunk.

    • 8:42 a.m. — A South McCurdy Road caller said her ex-boyfriend was harassing her because he was upset he isn’t on their son’s birth certificate. She was advised to get a restraining order.

    • 9:35 a.m. — A caller said she bought a money order at the Santa Cruz Post Office and noticed it was missing when she got to her car. Police took a report for larceny.

    • 1:36 p.m. — A State Road 76 caller said she believed her son and his girlfriend burgled her house. Police took a report.

    • 5:21 p.m. — A Burger King employee flagged down an officer to deal with a man refusing to leave the restaurant. The customer received his food and was advised not to return.

    • 8:54 p.m. — A Club Tropicana employee requested that an extremely intoxicated man sitting at the bar be removed. He was detoxed.

Intergenerational Dope Smoking

Sunday, Nov. 9

    • 10:16 a.m. — A Calle del Pajarito caller said an elderly gentleman and a teenager who were sitting in a Ford pickup appeared to be smoking from a pipe. The caller advised she “found it disturbing that the older man would allow the teen to be smoking an illegal drug,” according to dispatch logs. The smoking duo weren’t found.

    • 3:37 p.m. — A Highway 285 caller said a man had been watching her house and two others since July. No report was taken.

    • 7:02 p.m. — A School Street caller said an officer was needed immediately because she found out her husband was cheating on her and he hung up on her. Police assisted in a civil standby while the husband’s belongings were retrieved.

    • 8:04 p.m. — A North Prince Drive caller said her son was fighting everyone in the house. He left before police arrived at the home.
