Contestants are being sought for the third annual Chili Cook-Off to benefit San Martin de Porres Soup Kitchen in Española.
The event is scheduled for April 25 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Big Rock Casino.
Participants can bring their best chili and salsa recipes and will compete for prizes and trophies.
For attendees, tickets cost $10 for adults and $3 for children and include a Mexican buffet and chili tasting.

AARP New Mexico is seeking nominations for its 2009 Andrus Award for Community Service.
To be eligible, nominees must be current AARP volunteers or AARP members, or they must have been AARP volunteers or members during 2008. The achievements or service on which the nomination is based must include the year 2008, but it need not be exclusive to 2008.
The service also must have been performed without pay, and must reflect the organization’s priority issues of health, livable communities or economic security.
Couples or partners who perform service together are eligible, but teams are not.
