Consumers who qualify for low-income heating assistance are protected from utility shut-offs from Nov. 15, 2008 to March 15, 2009.
To avoid potential disconnection of services, contact the Human Services Department for eligibility information at (800) 283-4465. Your service will not be disconnected if you qualify for the assistance program and have no past-due amounts or are making the agreed-upon payments.

United Way of Northern New Mexico is accepting applications for its 2008 grant program, from non-profit organizations that seek to develop new capacities, enhance an existing service or begin a new program.
The grants will generally have a $10,000 limit and may be approved as multi-year grants, not to exceed three years. Grants will be limited to 501(c) 3 non-profit corporations who service Los Alamos and Rio Arriba counties.
