Throw Down in the Walmart Liquor Aisle

The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Nov. 13

8:51 a.m. A caller reported a man was walking in the road in Hernandez and looked like he had a short gun in his hand. She said he was “moving like he was on a mission.” The responding deputy said the man was just walking.

9:34 a.m. A La Joya Street caller said it appears homeless people have moved beds into a nearby trailer.

1:02 p.m. A caller reported a truck was going up 31 Mile Road, dumping tires.

1:14 p.m. A man went to EPD to report his truck was broken into at the Days Inn a few days ago and tools were stolen.

1:30 p.m. A caller said a gun was left behind while he was hunting and when he went back for it, it was gone.

2:13 p.m. A West Sanchez caller reported the neighbor is harassing them and taking photos of their vehicle. They said the neighbor went around to other neighbors, having them sign a petition to get the caller evicted.

2:22 p.m. A caller said the microwave was stolen from Santo Niño Catholic Church in Tierra Amarilla.

3:42 p.m. A woman was doing drugs by the cattle guard on Calle Redonda and El Llano Road.

3:52 p.m. A James Thompson Lane caller reported someone working on his roof found what looks like a bullet hole in his solar panel.

4:05 p.m. An Inside Out Clinic caller said a young man stole a client’s phone.

4:39 p.m. A man was walking along State Road 369, looking into mailboxes.

6:11 p.m. A Dixon caller reported a man has an outdoor fire burning and he’s yelling, screaming and dancing around.

6:14 p.m. Two men were fighting in the liquor aisle at Walmart.

6:16 p.m. A woman was waving a knife around outside of Walgreens.

7:52 p.m. A caller said CYFD has been trying to get in touch with someone at a home on Camino Rio Vista because the daughter is smoking marijuana with her grandmother.

7:59 p.m. A Coyote caller reported a backhoe was stolen from his property.

 

Animal Cruelty

Nov. 14

1:57 a.m. A caller said his vehicle was stolen the Big Rock casino parking lot.

7:45 a.m. Two people in a car were passed out near the Sacred Heart Cemetery.

7:46 a.m. A West Calle Archuleta caller reported his car window was broken and the license plate was taken.

7:48 a.m. A Chimayó caller said someone shot her tenant’s dog.

10:36 a.m. An Upper San Pedro Road caller reported a man is doing drugs on his bike and going into people’s yards.

12:18 p.m. A man’s death was reported on North Railroad Avenue.

12:41 p.m. An auto collision occurred in the Harbor Freight parking lot and one of the drivers threatened to tase the other driver.

4:35 p.m. A Calle del Pajarito caller said six or seven children were throwing rocks at dogs.

5:59 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported her neighbor is harassing her by shining light on her property.

8:21 p.m. An overdose was reported in Hernandez. Three doses of Narcan were administered.

11:01 p.m. A caller said a vehicle almost hit people on the sidewalk near Little Caesar’s.

 

Drugs Are Bad

Nov. 15

12:19 a.m. A man was shot in the Ohkay Casino parking lot.

8:04 a.m. A Medanales caller said her tenant tried to burn down the house.

8:58 a.m. An overdose was reported in Tierra Amarilla after a woman injected herself with meth for the first time.

1:09 p.m. A Cook’s Mobile Home Park caller said their home was broken into and TVs are missing.

2:09 p.m. A loud explosion was heard behind Eagle Village Apartments.

2:31 p.m. An Ohkay Owingeh caller said rocks were thrown through the window of the camper shell on his truck.

2:48 p.m A caller said a man in the Lotaburger drive-thru was waving a gun around.

4:29 p.m. A caller reported men and women armed with knives are fighting on South Monterey Lane and North Riverside Drive.

5:20 p.m. A caller said a man was threatening to defecate on the side of Champion Car wash.

6:56 p.m. A Cordova caller reported family members are fighting.

9:24 p.m. An El Rito caller heard gunshots coming from the neighbor’s house and she was afraid a child or animal would be hit by a stray bullet.

9:48 p.m. A man was waving a stick at vehicles at the Santa Claran Casino Hotel.

11:17 p.m. An overdose was reported in the parking lot of the Ohkay Travel Center after a man smoked fentanyl. One dose of Narcan was administered.

11:36 p.m. A man was arrested for DWI at the Santa Claran Casino Hotel.

11:39 p.m. A man was beat up by five people at the Santa Claran Casino Hotel.

 

Too Much Ice

Nov. 16

9:44 a.m. A Chamita caller said the neighbor is harassing them for cleaning their yard and burning debris.

1:21 p.m. A caller reported people with ladders are climbing on top of Century Bank. The climbers told police they were putting up Christmas lights.

1:34 p.m. A man said he drove up to look at tires at Point S and someone pulled a gun on him.

2:37 p.m. Firefighters asked for assistance in putting out a fire in Lyden. Homes had to be evacuated.

5:54 p.m. A Fairview Sonic customer said she complained because her drink had too much ice in it and the manager got irate and took a photo of her vehicle and threatened to post it on social media.

6 p.m. An Agua Sana Fire Department in Hernandez caller requested a deputy because a woman was being combative.

6:25 p.m. A Hernandez caller heard several shots in the area from a machine gun.

6:28 p.m. A caller said their vehicle was stuck in Chama and it was beginning to snow.

8:32 p.m. A caller reported a woman was drunk and hit her head and isn’t responding.

 

Disappearing Money

Nov. 17

8:30 a.m. A Hernandez caller said her neighbor’s dogs were poisoned and the bowls were left outside, on his street.

8:32 a.m. A Walmart caller reported a person in a vehicle in the pick-up area is yelling and screaming at employees.

9:55 a.m. A West Calle Archuleta caller said a couple of their vehicles were damaged.

12:42 p.m. A State Road 76 in Española caller reported a man went to her house and threatened to shoot her husband.

1:16 p.m. A woman filed a report at EPD for fraud because money keeps getting taken out of her Del Norte Credit Union account.

1:38 p.m. Two students at Española Valley High School were searched and nine or 10 vapes, four knives, multiple bullets and shotgun shells were found.

7:15 p.m. A San Pedro Sonic caller said a man in a vehicle was threatening carhops and they can smell liquor coming from the vehicle.

8:37 p.m. A drunk person in a vehicle at the Taco Bell drive-thru was yelling and refusing to leave.

10:50 p.m. A Calle del Sol caller thinks women she has issues with shot at her house.

 

Too Much

to Drink

Nov. 18

8:34 a.m. A student at Fairview Elementary was in possession of THC.

11:06 a.m. A woman’s death was reported in Dixon.

12:09 p.m. A West Calle Jose Pablo caller was working at a job site and noticed tools missing from his truck.

3:28 p.m. A Coyote caller said a man was walking near the church with a pillowcase full of items.

4 p.m. A homeless person was pulling wires out of an electrical box near CVS.

4:36 p.m. A man was lying on the ground on Calle Vigil, barely breathing and had all-over body pain.

4:46 p.m. A San Pedro Sonic employee said a customer threw a drink at her then left.

8:11 p.m. A drunk man in the Ohkay Casino parking lot was being aggressive.

9:44 p.m. A Camino Miramontes caller requested a welfare check on her husband because he had too much to drink and was passed out on the sidewalk.

10:28 p.m. An El Rito caller reported his vehicle was stolen about 10 minutes ago.

 

Throwing Salsa

Nov. 19

7:08 a.m. A Velarde caller said her granddaughter and the girl’s mother are physically fighting in the driveway.

8:07 a.m. A caller reported people are getting pallets and building a structure between Española Transit Mix and CVS.

9:21 a.m. A caller said her 13-year-old grandson was stabbed with a pencil by another student at the Española Middle School and security didn’t do anything.

11:32 a.m. An Alcalde caller reported getting a text message from a man who was threatening her and her family.

3:45 p.m. A caller said her father was scammed. The scammers told him they would kill her if he didn’t send them money, so he sent $1,000.

4:19 p.m. A caller found his stolen trailer on the side of the road in Hernandez.

6:30 p.m. A CVS caller said a homeless man is throwing salsa at the back door.

9:02 p.m. A Velarde caller reported half a dozen orange barrels were in the middle of the road.

10:39 p.m. A caller said he’s having alcohol withdrawals, is irritated and wants to fight someone.

11:07 p.m. A State Road 76 caller told a dispatcher that her boyfriend was pointing a gun at her as she was on the phone with them and threatening to kill her.
