As a lifetime resident of Rio Arriba County I am appalled by our County leaders.
I don’t know if you have ever been to our park in Tierra Amarilla, but it’s a mess. It’s full of prairie dog holes, prairie dog feces, weeds everywhere and I don’t even think the playground equipment is safe.
Little league just started and our baseball field is a mess and full of prairie dog holes. There is one bleacher for people to sit.
There is absolutely not enough parking to have a baseball game there. There is a gate that can be opened to allow people to park their cars around the field but our County “leaders” refuse to open the gates for a Little League game.
We pay taxes so the County can keep the park in Tierra Amarilla at least looking decent. I know Chimayó got a new park a few years ago. The park in Española is kept decent but our County leaders refuse to keep up with our park here in Tierra Amarilla.
On top of what’s going on with our park, our swimming pool is closed and last I heard, our County “leaders” refuse to spend money to fix it.
Tierra Amarilla is a small place but being the County Seat, they should at least try keep it looking decent. The children in our area deserve better.
I’m hoping the media can help us put the word out that we are tired of our area and our youth being ignored by our County leaders.
