The SUN received a call Monday complaining that the North Central Solid Waste Authority’s Alcalde transfer station was closed and traffic was backed up over the weekend.
Authority Manager Joe Lewandowski confirmed that an employee had not gone to work.
“This wasn’t the first time (with this employee),” Lewandowski said. “I can’t get into personnel matters, but we’ll be dealing with him.”
Lewandowski said that log sheets prove the Alcalde station was open Saturday, but that Sunday’s log sheets are missing.
“At this point we have no evidence it was open Sunday,” he said. “But we have to give the employee an opportunity to explain himself.”
