San Jose Church in Las Trampas is looking for volunteers to help replaster the church’s exterior.
Weather has damaged the 18th-century adobe structure and beginning this weekend, Frank Lopez Sr. and other friends of the church will begin preparing to replaster by removing damaged plaster, setting up scaffolding and cutting straw to mix with mud. They will continue working on the church every weekend this summer until the replastering is complete.
Volunteers are encouraged to bring shovels, hoes, buckets and wheelbarrows. Food donations for the volunteers are also welcome. Burgers, hot dogs, casseroles, salads or anything else that can feed large numbers of people would be appreciated.
