The Jicarilla Apache Nation and the Ohkay Owingeh Pueblo will each receive a portion of $1.22 million in new federal funding for rural airport improvements.
The Nation is accepting a $364,800 grant to upgrade runway pavement. Ohkay Owingeh will receive $200,000, also for runway repairs.
The Federal Aviation Administration approved the grants, which can be used for planning, surveying and design, as well as runway, taxiway and maintenance.
