The United States Supreme Court recently upheld Deferred Action For Childhood Arrivals (DACA), protecting over 700,000 DACA recipients otherwise known as dreamers. The Court rejected the Trump Administration’s efforts to dismantle the only program that protects undocumented children and adults who came to the United States and only know the life of an American.

Nearly 6,000 New Mexican DACA recipients live in fear under the threat of deportation. Trump’s administration plans to once again target DACA recipients and immigrant Communities.

U.S. Representative Ben Ray Lujan and U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich put forth a tremendous effort in supporting immigrant communities. How can our state representatives continue to use their powerful seats in Congress to support their immigrant communities?

Simple. Our Representatives can do much more. They can exercise their power in Congress to prioritize House Bill 6, The Dream and Promise Act, that introduces a permanent solution leading to a pathway to citizenship for dreamers.

U.S. Representatives need to be more vocally supportive on their media channels and educate the public on this important legislation.

We don’t need any more temporary solutions. We need a permanent solution that will guarantee protection and safety for our immigrant communities, families, and dreamers.

This is why we ask Lujan, Udall and Heinrich to prioritize immigration reform and DACA by supporting House Bill 6, the Dream and Promise Act.
