The state Environment Department will hold a public meeting Aug. 17 on a draft proposal to nominate waters within the wilderness areas of the United States Forest Service as Outstanding National Resource Waters.
The proposal would require keeping water quality in those waters at current levels or improving it further.
The meeting is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rio Arriba County Rural Events Center in Abiquiú.
