Wildland Firefighter Training for 2009 Fire Season
Spring firefighter trainings have been scheduled for the Carson National Forest in preparation for the fire season.
First-time firefighters are required to complete the Basic Firefighter course, S-130/S-190, to be offered the week of March 23 and again the week of April 13 at Northern New Mexico College’s El Rito Campus.
This is a week-long course with four days of classroom work and one field day.
To register for the class call Donald Martinez at (575) 581-4120 or register online at www.nnmc.edu. The registration deadline is one week before classes begin. Contact the College for information on other firefighter courses being offered.
Annual refresher classes for veteran firefighters will be April 29 at 8:30 am at Northern New Mexico College’s El Rito campus.
