The police blotter is published to give readers an abridged look at criminal activity in their community and neighborhood. It is simply an illustration of what local law enforcement, funded by taxpayers, must deal with daily throughout the Española Valley.

Woman under the stairs
March 14
2:44 a.m. A Calle Duran caller said people keep going to the house across from him and requested that officers go to the area. Two people were detained and one man was arrested.
3:25 a.m. A Hindi Lane caller reported hearing someone breaking into an abandoned trailer next to her.
5:19 a.m. A man took fentanyl and overdosed on Calle Vigil. Two doses of Narcan were administered.
5:21 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a person sleeping under a light and wrapped in plastic on Calle Redonda and El Llano Road.
6:40 a.m. A Fairview Lane caller said her vehicle was broken into and the person is still outside.
7:53 a.m. An unoccupied vehicle was in the Ohkay Casino parking lot and the owner could not be found. When they did find the owner, they gave consent to search the vehicle and a softball or baseball-sized bag of a while powdery substance was found.
9:18 a.m. A caller reported a man was passed out in a vehicle near Po Pay Avenue and the vehicle was about to go into the ditch. State Police had to break the window and administered Narcan.
10:07 a.m. A BOLO was issued for an SUV with a broken back window that refused to stop for a deputy in Hernandez.
11:24 a.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a woman under the stairs on North Riverside Drive, covered with a blue plastic box.
1:37 p.m. A man was hit by a car near Allsups. He said he couldn’t breathe and was transported to the hospital.
2:10 p.m. An overdose was reported near Chili’s. CPR was performed and the man declined medical assistance and walked away.
2:46 p.m. A man with a warrant was picked up on Calle del Rio and North Railroad Avenue.
3:59 p.m. A caller reported attempted fraudulent charges from Quickbooks.
4:04 p.m. A backpack was stolen from Española Pathways Shelter.
5:56 p.m. A Calle del Sol caller said a bike was taken from her property and though it was brought back, she wants to speak with an officer.
6:46 p.m. A caller reported a man is sitting on the side of the porch at Fairview Pharmacy and doing drugs.
7:08 p.m. A caller said a truck is following and harassing them and it happens every time they get off work.
7:31 p.m. An Española car wash caller reported one of the machines hit her car and she needs to file a report.
9:08 p.m. A caller said a man and woman are doing inappropriate things in the dugout at Valdez Park.
11:09 p.m. A New Mexico State Police officer was reportedly fighting with someone on North McCurdy Road and El Llano Road and an officer went to assist.
11:40 p.m. An overdose was reported at Cook’s Mobile Home Park. One dose of Narcan was administered and the patient refused medical help.

March 15
6:06 a.m. A Lower San Pedro Road caller heard shots and screaming in the area.
6:14 a.m. A Speedway caller said there’s a man and woman in an SUV who are passed out and not responding.
10:31 a.m. A caller reported there are homeless people squatting in a home on Upper San Pedro Road and they want them removed.
10:32 a.m. A Fish Pond Lane caller said her uncle pushed her down and was trying to punch her.
1:15 p.m. A caller reported two people were passed out in a vehicle at Big 5.
1:46 p.m. A caller said a man was panhandling at Walgreens and only approaching women.
2:19 p.m. A caller wanted to speak with an officer about a pornographic image of a child that was reported.
2:31 p.m. A caller said his bike was stolen.
3:12 p.m. A caller reported a man has an account that depicts a naked little girl as his profile picture.
3:40 p.m. An Alcalde caller said there are people on his property with shovels and he doesn’t know who they are. It was determined the people were cleaning the ditch.
3:56 p.m. A Goodwill employee overdosed. Narcan was administered, the man regained consciousness and refused medical treatment.
4:14 p.m. A toddler fell off a shopping cart at Walmart and hit her head.
4:49 p.m. A man shoplifted two bags of dog pads from Walgreens.
6:30 p.m. A caller said a man is following, tailgating, harassing and trying to physically fight him.
6:30 p.m. A car was doing donuts in the Wendy’s parking lot.
7:03 p.m. A Calle Chacoma Vista caller reported the neighbors might be fighting, they can hear a lot of yelling and a car is doing donuts in the driveway.
8:53 p.m. A caller heard four gunshots on County Road 1 in Hernandez and thinks they came from a vacant doublewide.
10:12 p.m. A caller said there is loud music coming from Mariscos la Playa and it’s shaking the house.
Flying kites
March 16
8:52 a.m. A van hit the wall near El Parasol and the driver ran behind El Paragua. An electric pole was also hit and it fell onto the vehicle.
9:43 a.m. A Velarde caller wanted to file a report for damage to a wire line connected to a light pole and damage to a window on an apartment.
11:55 a.m. A Chimayó caller reported the landlord and his tenant are fighting.
12:24 p.m. The baby box alarm at the Española Fire State was activated.
12:58 p.m. A caller said a man has a fire burning in the middle of the road at Cook’s Mobile Home Park.
12:59 p.m. A Rodeway Inn caller reported a woman was refusing to leave and yelling profanities from inside the room she was staying in.
1:06 p.m. A homeless man was walking around East Laguna Street, wearing a camouflage shirt and no pants or underwear.
3:41 p.m. A caller reported her granddaughter was arguing with her.
4:24 p.m. A caller said a man in an SUV was masturbating in the Walgreens parking lot, near the Redbox machine.
4:40 p.m. A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller reported two men in a pickup truck were getting high. The responding officer said the men were smoking cigarettes.
5:14 p.m. A caller said a boy of about 2- or 3-years old was wandering around near the VA Clinic. The responding officer said the child and parent were flying kites.
5:24 p.m. A caller reported two people were hiding by the dumpster near the church at the Fairview Lane and North McCurdy Road intersection.
5:50 p.m. A man was waving a blade around near Kentucky Fried Chicken.
6:16 p.m. A man reported his grandma was having a mental episode and hit him and his mother.
8:31 p.m. A man known to carry a dagger and BB gun got aggressive with his grandfather.
10:16 p.m. The grandmother who allegedly hit her grandson and daughter in the previous call, phoned to say someone hit her grandson.
11:21 p.m. An overdose was reported on Barbee Street.
Mean cat
March 17
2:39 a.m. An overdose was reported in Tierra Amarilla.
8:08 a.m. A Tsigo Bugeh Road caller said a cat keeps scratching her two vehicles.
8:43 a.m. A man was panhandling at the Starbucks drive-thru and a caller wanted him trespassed.
11:53 a.m. A substitute teacher made an inappropriate comment to a student at Española Valley High School.
12:21 p.m. A man was threatening to physically harm a person with a knife in Chamita.
12:24 p.m. A man was jumping in and out of traffic near Burger King.
1:07 p.m. A man was slumped over the wheel of a vehicle at the Catholic church in Alcalde.
2:28 p.m. A man was throwing and breaking items at his mom’s boyfriend’s house in Tierra Amarilla because he thought the man took his pills.
2:33 p.m. A man was in the Dairy Queen restroom and refused to get out. He was arrested after officers learned he had a warrant.
2:51 p.m. Two men were hiding in a ditch with a bike on North McCurdy Road and Calle Ramon Espinoza and shooting up drugs.
3:03 p.m. A Santa Maria El Mirador caller said a client left the house and they need help getting him back to the property. The caller phoned a second time and said the client was found but won’t get in the van.
3:12 p.m. New Mexico State Police requested help from emergency management to help people whose truck was stuck in the snow near a cliff.
3:18 p.m. Two Española Middle School students had THC pens.
4:10 p.m. A Starbucks called wanted a panhandler removed and trespassed.
4:16 p.m. A Chimayó caller reported a fence and pile of wood on fire near two structures.
4:32 p.m. A woman was doing drugs by the Veterans Memorial Wall.
6:27 p.m. An overdose was reported at Española Pathways Shelter. One dose of Narcan was administered.
6:34 p.m. An overdose was reported on Paseo de Paulina. One dose of Narcan was administered.
6:35 p.m. A man was arguing with a manager at the Dollar General in Hernandez about the price of an item.
7:14 p.m. An overdose was reported at Española Pathways Shelter.
7:26 p.m. An overdose was reported in Velarde. Three doses of Narcan were administered. When the man regained consciousness, he refused medical assistance.
7:55 p.m. A Blue Bus driver said she hit a deer in Ponderosa.
8:03 p.m. A Park and Ride caller reported her truck was broken into and items are missing.
9:45 p.m. A Velarde caller said her drunk boyfriend jumped out of the car after trying to take the wheel and ram the vehicle into the construction walls.
10:26 p.m. A Velarde caller reported someone is in her yard and her son is fighting the man and has him pinned down.
11:33 p.m. Three gunshots were heard in the East Bond Street and North Coronado Avenue area.
Don’t tailgate
March 18
1:05 a.m. A Lindrith caller said her ex shot at her and hit her vehicle and now she cannot move it.
10:06 a.m. A caller reported people at a house in Hernandez are selling fentanyl.
12:33 p.m. A caller said she was approached by a woman who said her friend was being beaten by her boyfriend in front of the Santa Claran Casino.
12:40 p.m. A panhandler was harassing customers on North Paseo de Oñate.
1:57 p.m. An overdose was reported on Paseo de Paulina. The man was stiff and cold and CPR could not be performed. The Office of the Medical Investigator was called.
3:02 p.m. A boy and girl fled from the Peak Behavioral Health office and were seen running through the hills behind the NMSP building.
4:24 p.m. An elderly woman slapped a Verizon Wireless employee and fled.
7:23 p.m. A man in a truck was shooting a rifle at the end of the road near the Dollar General in Hernandez.
9:02 p.m. A Coyote caller said he hit a tree by the church with his truck and now his mother-in-law is shooting at him.
9:21 p.m. A North Paseo de Oñate caller saw three people on his lot, stealing gas.
9:38 p.m. A caller said a car was tailgating him, so he brake-checked it and the vehicles collided.
10:59 p.m. A camper fire was reported on the lower road south of Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative.

March 19
7:17 a.m. A RASO deputy was involved in a vehicle collision in Medanales.
8:13 a.m. A student at Española Middle School had a THC pen.
10:20 a.m. A caller at Walmart said a person in a truck has been following them and sending threatening messages via text and social media.
1:09 p.m. A caller said a tenant at Cook’s Mobile Home Park broke the window on another tenant’s vehicle.
1:22 p.m. An Española Middle School student was in the office for possession of THC.
1:50 p.m. An Income Support Division caller said a woman who went into the office hit his vehicle with hers.
1:51 p.m. A woman’s death was reported in Velarde.
1:59 p.m. A man was reported to be unconscious on Jemez View Street. CPR was performed but the man died.
2:33 p.m. A caller said a woman and man with two children were trying to lure her daughter into a car at the Española Post Office.
2:33 p.m. A fire was reported on Calle Ramon.
2:58 p.m. A 5-year-old Fairview Elementary student told the teacher that her mom’s boyfriend hits her.
6:08 p.m. The EPD police chief instructed officers to tow any cars parked along East Pueblo Road.
6:24 p.m. A Walmart customer was unconscious in Aisle 25.
6:32 p.m. A woman was having a psychotic episode at Walmart.
9 p.m. Two teens ran up to a door on Tesuque Drive, banged on it very hard and took off in a truck.
9:06 p.m. A man in the Domino’s restroom said he was pepper-sprayed.
Taco Bell crash
March 20
12:53 a.m. An Española City Police officer assisted the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office in pursuing a vehicle on South Riverside Drive and Red Hawk Court.
10:34 a.m. A woman was arguing with a store employee over a cigarette sale. She wanted a refund but the clerk could not do one because of state law.
11:12 a.m. A caller said someone in a car was following them and pointed a gun at them.
12:23 p.m. Someone crashed into the back of the Taco Bell building.
1:42 p.m. A deputy was looking for a man near Washington Federal who was supposed to turn himself in on a warrant.
2:01 p.m. A caller said a homeless man behind McDonald’s had a very nice Doberman Pinscher and she thinks it’s stolen. She said the dog is too nice to be owned by the man and it was whining at her, tattling on the man.
2:51 p.m. A man from Taos Forest Service dispatch reported being called by someone from San Juan County who told him a woman was hiking, fell down a hill and broke her leg or foot.
2:53 p.m. A caller said a child at McCurdy Charter School assaulted her child at lunch and she took her child to the emergency room.
3:19 p.m. A caller reported a man at Speedway was trying to fight him.
3:36 p.m. A Del Taco caller said a man was throwing stuff at cars.
4:54 p.m. A Velarde caller reported his grandson is threatening his daughter.
5:34 p.m. A Romero’s Fruit Stand caller said he got robbed and when he tried to get the product back, the person put a gun in his face.
7:52 p.m. A caller reported a woman has been harassing her and she wants to speak with an officer. She then said she sees an officer and will go talk with them.
9:25 p.m. A Calle Duran caller wants an officer to check on a nearby house because several people have been going in and out of it.
10:28 p.m. A Hernandez caller reported three people are fighting in her driveway.
