A male suspect in a domestic incident who was left in the company of the victim by Española Police, later allegedly kidnapped and battered her, according to a police report and court documents.

Alonso Rodriguez, 35, is wanted by police for kidnapping, aggravated assault on a household member, and aggravated battery of a household member after allegedly kidnapping his ex-girlfriend Nov. 22, according to court documents.

Police were first summoned to a Calle Rosario address Nov. 21 because the woman claimed Rodriguez, with whom she still shares a Chimayó house, was harassing her and her current boyfriend, former city council candidate Jason Salazar. Rodriguez allegedly threatened Salazar’s 14-year-old son, shoved him against a wall and demanded to know Salazar’s whereabouts.

Rodriguez was gone when police arrived, and the alleged victim and Salazar were instructed to get a restraining order. Police were again dispatched to the house two hours later, because Rodriguez was allegedly knocking on the front door. He was gone when police arrived.

According to court documents, Española Police responded to a third domestic call at 6 a.m. the morning of the kidnapping. The victim was asked by officer Michelle Ortega to exit the residence to speak with Rodriguez, for unknown reasons. Ortega left the scene while the two were outside talking, at which point Rodriguez allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair and forced her into his vehicle, court documents state.

Ortega could not be reached for comment.

The victim reported the alleged kidnapping at 7:30 a.m., after she escaped from Rodriguez and got a ride back to Española, Española Police Det. Bryan Martinez said.

Rodriguez allegedly beat the victim and tried to stab her with a kitchen knife at the Chimayó house, Martinez said. She was treated at Española Hospital and released. Police had not located the suspect before Wednesday (11/26) morning.
