State Police are seeking information regarding an El Rito woman who disappeared Aug. 15 and hasn’t been seen since.
Joanne Ocana, 44, was last seen walking on State Road 110 in El Rito in the early morning of Aug. 15, not far from her home, according to State Police and Ocana’s mother, Mabel Ocana.
Police have interviewed Ocana’s family and others who had seen her recently, Sgt. Chris Valdez said. Because of the length of time Ocana has been missing, her disappearance is considered suspicious, Valdez said. Meanwhile, Ocana’s family has been distributing flyers, placing newspaper ads and going on TV trying to spread the word of her disappearance in the hope of turning up leads.
“Nobody has seen her; nobody has heard anything from her,” Mabel Ocana said. “It’s like she disappeared into thin air — we just don’t understand it.”
