Police Blotter: Woman Throws Knife; Son Throws Keys

    Española Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police and State Police responded to the following calls:

Monday, Feb. 22

    • 2:51 a.m. — A man reported that a male walked up to his girlfriend at the Santa Cruz Post Office and asked whether anybody had a gun. The caller said the man was hunched over and went walking down State Road 76.

    • 7:55 a.m. — A female caller suspected her neighbor had three stolen cars. Española Police contacted the person responsible for one of the vehicles, who said it belonged to his brother who was away in Phoenix, Ariz.

    • 12:33 p.m. — A Wal-Mart employee reported that a man broke into the laptop case and took four computers. Workers detained the suspect until police arrived. The man at first gave police an alias before telling them his true name.

    • 3:31 p.m. — An Española man reported a 1994 Grand Victoria was stolen from his house, and the car was still registered to someone else because he just bought it.

    • 4:36 p.m. — A caller at the Española Adult Probation Office reported that a probationer had taken a digital camera but returned it without the memory card.

    • 5:08 p.m. — A woman in a wheelchair with a broken ankle said a man came and pushed her around and “spilled everything all over the place.”

    • 5:12 p.m. — A Center Market caller said a man in a Black Denali was flashing a gun.

    • 9:47 p.m. — An El Rito caller reported his wife said she wanted to kill herself near the El Rito Cemetery. He said his wife left the house to look at their horses and wanted “to get on the horse and leave.” The man said she had poked her arm with a syringe and had drunk a couple glasses of wine. The woman let a horse loose before coming back inside.

Tuesday, Feb. 23

    • 12:16 a.m. — Two Walgreens employees reported their tires had been slashed.

    • 6:48 a.m. — A male caller said a small dog tied to a pole was barking loudly. The man said he had been awake since the previous Sunday.

    • 10:24 a.m. — An Alcalde man said he had vomited blood and lost consciousness. He said “they ate Chinese food yesterday and symptoms started since then.”

    • 1:56 p.m. — A Speedy Loan caller reported a woman trying to cash a fraudulent $1,500 check. When Speedy Loan called the company that had issued the check, the company said it belonged to a man.

    • 9:13 p.m. — A man reported his ex-girlfriend would not stop calling or texting him.

Wednesday, Feb. 24

    • 9:15 a.m. — A woman reported her drunk brother was at their mother’s house, and she could not handle him drinking any more. Paramedics found the man vomiting and going through alcohol withdrawal.

    • 9:36 a.m. — A man said three men were drinking behind Saints and Sinners liquor store.

    • 10:37 a.m. — A man reported his girlfriend was breaking into his computer accounts and “messing around with his stuff online.”

    • 12:13 p.m. — A Lowe’s Super Save caller said a man was possibly soliciting a prostitute by the receiving dock. The suspect and a woman walked off toward the Santa Clara Apartments.

    • 3:08 p.m. — A Hacienda Home Center caller reported a man just took off with some wrenches and pliers, then went to Becker’s and tried to shoplift there, too. The caller said the suspect had done this four consecutive days, but his juvenile probation officer was not doing anything about it.

    • 5:49 p.m. — An Allsup’s gas station caller reported a woman was trying to sell people a credit card for money.

    • 7:22 p.m. — An Ojo Caliente woman said her son was drunk at her house. She said she threw his knife out the door, and he responded by throwing her keys out the door.

Thursday, Feb. 25

    • 3:25 a.m. — A Big Rock Casino caller reported that he was “going into a mania” and “mania makes him hyper.” The caller said he did not believe he was suicidal — he had taken his morning medication and drank about five hours ago. He was afraid of being mistreated by officers.

    • 8:46 p.m. — A man reported that two males said a few nights ago they were going to be waiting with baseball bats for a manager at Chile’s because the manager had made some comments about them.

    • 9:19 p.m. — A man reported his neighbor was harassing him and calling him names.

    • 11:05 p.m. — An Española caller said she could not wake up a man passed out at her house. Medics said the man started snoring at first, then stopped, but they were still unable to wake him up.

Paint Ball Attacks Won’t Stop

Friday, Feb. 26

    • 7:41 a.m. — A caller said her house was hit by paint balls the previous night. It was the third time in a month the house had been targeted.

    • 11:40 a.m. — A caller reported a man was cutting down a burnt mobile home on Hindi Avenue. The caller said the man was smoking out of a glass pipe and may be doing some kind of drugs.

    • 3:09 p.m. — A man reported a gold-colored dog, which was part pit bull and part rottweiler, was destroying his yard.

    • 5:13 p.m. — A man said someone broke into his trailer at Echo Ampitheater and stole his shotgun.

    • 5:51 p.m. — A caller said his son was acting up. The 911 dispatcher heard the step-son say, “I am not your (expletive) son” before the line was disconnected.

    • 9:17 p.m. — A caller reported two women were arguing in her front yard.

Saturday, Feb. 27

    • 9:52 a.m. — A man reported a tractor trailer had hit three power lines in Española.

    • 10:57 a.m. — A La Madera man reported another man got hit by a bull and was trapped between the bull and the corral fence before freeing himself and passing out.

    • 1:07 p.m. — A man said someone had stolen his wallet and tried to use his credit card at the Ohkay Express Mart earlier that morning.

    • 1:43 p.m. — A caller reported seeing two suspicious men. The men told police they were just looking for their horse.

    • 4:21 p.m. — A South Dakota woman said she and her ex-husband have joint custody of their child, but when the woman picked up the child, the ex-husband started following her very closely and called her cell phone to threaten her.

    • 7:17 p.m. — A man reported someone had stolen his chain saw from his front porch earlier in the day.

    • 7:43 p.m. — A woman reported 10 cows on State Road 96 near the Abiquiu Dam. Police did not find any cows in the area.

    • 11:30 p.m. — A man said his brother-in-law was going crazy. He said the suspect started arguing with this wife, then grabbed a knife from his shed and started stabbing things.

Sunday, Feb. 28

    • 11:33 a.m. — A woman reported her daughter was going crazy, trying to hit her family members and tearing off her clothes. The father said she hit him on the head with a piece of wood.

    • 12:26 p.m. — A woman said her house was broken into and a flat screen television was stolen. She said she had been having problems with her husband’s family ever since he recently died.

    • 11:52 p.m. — A woman reported a suspicious man was walking around her house and looking into the window. She said the man parked his car up the road with its lights on, and he got out and tapped on her windows all over the house.
