Española Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police and State Police responded to the following calls:
Jewels Stashed
Monday, Oct. 13
• 10:26 a.m. — A Piñon Road caller said someone in a suspicious vehicle was parked by his house that morning for an hour and was drinking and throwing bottles out a window. Although the car was gone, the caller was concerned it had been there and collected the bottles for police to fingerprint. No report was taken.
• 11:06 a.m. — A State Road 399 caller said a man was trying to pick up on her and was making sexual advances. She wanted officers to tell him to stop, which they did.
• 1:21 p.m. — A Hernandez caller said he wanted officers to check his property because a ladder behind his trailer moved and he was “scared of the coco man.” The man called again and requested officers to expedite their response because he said his landlords were outside his house yelling obscenities and threatening to kill him. Police found no evidence anyone was bothering him and the landlord said he was in the process of trying to evict the tenant. Police gave the caller a card with their non-emergency number and told him if he called 911 about the situation again he would be charged with a crime.
• 5:01 p.m. — A Rio Arriba County Road 58 caller said he stashed jewels and gold in a trash bag and it was picked up. No report was taken.
• 5:31 p.m. — A caller said four men were fighting in front of Wal-Mart. Police found them just eating pizza.
• 10:42 p.m. — A Dakota Lane caller said weird people were walking around in a field near his home. Police didn’t find anything suspicious.
Egging at DQ
Tuesday, Oct. 14
• 11:23 a.m. — A Railroad Avenue caller said two men kicked his pickup and then ran into the middle of Apple Valley Mobile Home Park. One was detoxed.
• 12:01 p.m. — A Dairy Queen employee said some high school youths were egging customers’ cars. Police took a report for criminal damage to property.
• 4:52 p.m. — Center Market employees reported that a violent shirtless shoplifter was refusing to give his name. He was cited by police.
• 10:32 p.m. — A Calle del Pajarito caller said someone trashed her daughter’s house.
Fight for Cheap Gas
Wednesday, Oct. 15
• 12:49 a.m. — A Guachupangue caller said her daughter’s friend was in the driveway, and she wanted her to leave. The woman was given a lawful order not to return.
• 1:13 p.m. — A Chama business owner said a “staggering, greasy” drunk man was bothering customers.
• 9:06 p.m. — An Ohkay Express Mart caller said a pump malfunction was causing gas to dispense for 33 cents a gallon and a fight broke out among customers. Police assisted until the glitch was fixed.
Fork Not Allowed
Thursday, Oct. 16
• 12:59 p.m. — A Riverside Drive caller said her 16-year-old daughter comes and goes as she pleases. Police assisted.
• 2:46 p.m. — An Española middle school faculty member said a student, who had been suspended previously for pulling a fire alarm, now had been caught with a fork. The caller told dispatch the students “are not supposed to have metal — they cannot distinguish with weapons.” The student also threatened to find the caller’s car and damage it. No report was taken.
• 10:57 p.m. — An El Llano caller said his ex-girlfriend got his MySpace password and changed his profile. Police advised him to change his password.
Woman Threatened At Hosepoint
Friday, Oct. 17
• 12:52 a.m. — A Lower San Pedro Road caller said he said he was going to vote against something at a planning and zoning meeting, “words ensued,” and he needed to speak to an officer. No report was taken.
• 2:26 a.m. — A Private Drive 1512 caller said a woman stole $15 from his desk, and when he confronted her she punched him in the face. No report was taken.
• 3:30 p.m. — A Hunter Street caller said someone on a bicycle stole her stereo. The man was apprehended and the stereo retrieved but the caller wouldn’t answer her door and no charges were pressed against the bicycling thief.
• 6:21 p.m. — A Denny Lane caller went to pick up a check from her ex-boyfriend and he refused to give it to her and threatened her with a water hose. She was referred to the courts.
• 8:59 p.m. — A Los Angeles, Calif., caller said he was receiving threatening calls from a New Mexico phone number. Police called the number and the people claimed they were at the High Country Lounge in Chama eating at the time, but juveniles could be heard laughing in the background. The Chama residents were advised not to call the California number anymore.
• 10:03 p.m. — The Hunter Street caller with the stolen stereo called again with three complaints. She said a man’s boyfriend stole from a store; a different man assaulted her May 2; and another man pushed her. She was deemed mentally unstable by officers and “pacified.”
Pill Burglary
Saturday, Oct. 18
• 2:12 a.m. — A Calle Redondo caller said her 16-year-old son destroyed items in her house and was wanting to start a fight with her neighbors. A report was taken for criminal damage, and he was detoxed.
• 2:29 a.m. — A Calle del Rio caller said her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend threatened to damage her car. A report was taken for harassment.
• 10:38 a.m. — A Via Del Norte Apartments caller said her grandson’s ex-girlfriend was calling her and using profane language. The ex-girlfriend was advised to stop calling.
• 2:41 p.m. — A Calle Estrella caller said someone came through the window to her house and possibly took some pills. A report was taken.
• 3:03 p.m. — A County Road 1 caller said his neighbors kept trying to start fights with him. A report was taken for harassment.
Rock Pictures Offend
Sunday, Oct. 19
• 1:24 p.m. — A Paseo de Paulina caller said a boy was threatening her brothers with a bat because he thought they broke into his house. The bat-wielder told police he took it out to protect himself because the other boys were much older. His father said he would settle the dispute.
• 3:22 p.m. — A caller said there were very disturbing pictures at Rock Christian Church, and she knew they didn’t have a permit. A second caller said the picture was “very offensive.” Officers were advised.
• 6:59 p.m. — A caller said renters at her Highway 84 property were not paying rent and destroying the property. She was told the issue was a civil matter, and when she insisted it was not, a deputy told her in person to file a complaint in magistrate court.
• 10:08 p.m. — A County Road 87 caller said she fell a few days before but didn’t need an ambulance. When asked what she would like dispatchers to do, the caller said “never mind” and hung up.
