    Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative was approved for a $788,000 loan, allowing the Co-op to add 117 miles of distribution lines and pick up 480 new members. The Co-op had 6,426 members.

    Joe Ferran, of Abiquiú, was re-elected president of the board of directors of the Co-op at the organizational meeting.

    Rio Arriba County Commissioners condemned the old San Pedro bridge and turned down a request from residents of that area that it be repaired. The bridge was a victim late in August of a flash flood down Santa Cruz creek, which hit in the hills east of the village.

    Random editorial thought: We wonder what’s happened to the gang who used to keep our streets so neat and tidy with their brooms? Would seem the did a better job than our poor, old mechanical street sweeper.

    McCurdy’s Bobcats beat Dulce 32-12 at Dulce. Bobby Lovato scored two of the five McCurdy touchdowns.

    Española High School’s drama club plans to present “Harvey.” Stage managers Linda McDaniel and Tom Adams were named. Tryouts for roles have not been held yet.

    Mac Chevrolet was selling a 1957 station wagon for $2,148. A flannel nightgown went for $1.98 at Kaveley’s.
