Police Blotter: Man Passes Out, Holds on to Coffee Cup

    Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:

Deputy Stoned

Monday, July 26

    • 12:51 a.m. — A North Coronado Avenue caller said about seven people were fighting. Police checked the area but could not find anyone.

    • 1:28 a.m. — An East Roman Drive caller complained that a drunk neighbor across the street was yelling at his parents and trying to get someone to leave with him. The caller said the man was honking his car horn and wouldn’t leave.

    • 9:27 a.m. — A Lopez Lane caller saw a skinny horse that didn’t look like it was being fed.

    • 9:51 a.m. — A Calle Ramon Espinosa caller said a pit bull and another dog came onto his property and attacked his two dogs.

    • 12:16 p.m. — A La Joya Street caller said a little boy was pointing a gun at people. The caller did not know if it was a real gun.

    • 12:25 p.m. — Animal control officers removed a vicious dog that was standing outside of a Calle Redondo home and barking. The caller said the dog previously attacked her children.

    • 3:31 p.m. — A Sun Loan Company caller said three females were going around the building, asking people for money and banging on the walls. The caller thought they also were smoking something behind the building.

    • 4:03 p.m. — The Rio Arriba County Sheriff investigated a report of a dead cow or a dead bear on State Road 68. The deputy told emergency dispatch it was a dead “moo cow.”

    • 7:26 p.m. — A 14-year-old Española High School girl fainted and did not know what day of the week it was or what her name was when she woke up.

    • 11:08 p.m. — A U.S. Highway 285 caller said three men were calling her dad names. She later said they were all fighting. They left before police arrived.

    • 11:55 p.m. — A Rio Arriba Sheriff’s Deputy said someone on a hill near El Guique Road threw rocks at his cruiser

Tuesday, July 27

    • 9:20 a.m. — A Pacheco Lane caller said a vehicle with tinted windows was parked on the street and he thought the people inside were selling drugs.

    • 11:04 p.m. — An Española Elementary School caller said the building was tagged with graffiti sometime during the night.

    • 11:12 p.m. — A State Road 76 caller said a 3-year-old fell off a parked truck and onto the concrete. He lost consciousness for about one minute. He woke up and complained of pain to his head. He could move his fingers and toes but told the caller he did not want to.

    • 2:24 p.m. — A Dallas, Texas mortgage company reported that a Highway 84 home was stripped of “everything,” which included electrical and plumbing fixtures.

    • 12:43 p.m. — A State Road 76 caller said her son was being disrespectful.

    • 2:28 p.m. — A Walmart caller said a strange dog was running loose in the parking lot. The dog sat beside a man who was sitting on a bench, but he was not the owner. The owner eventually showed up and said the dog must have jumped out of his vehicle.

    • 3:41 p.m. — A San Pedro Plaza caller was cutting weeds and came across several needles.

    • 7:16 p.m. — A Northern New Mexico College in Española caller said someone in a car with no rear window  was trying to sell several Dell computers.

    • 7:18 p.m. — An El Llano Road caller said he has a street light that turns on every 45 seconds and his neighbors don’t like it so they tried to shoot it down.

Wednesday, July 28

    • 12:16 a.m. — A Private Drive 1524 caller said someone wearing a spaghetti strap shirt was walking through his yard and it was making him nervous.

    • 7:15 a.m. — A Highway 64 caller said about 20 cattle were on the road.

    • 11:46 p.m. — About three needles were found behind Dog House Graphix.

    • 12:58 p.m. — A North Coronado Avenue caller said someone broke into her vehicle and took her radar detector.

    • 5:14 p.m. — Staff at Anthony’s at the Delta complained that a man called there about 20 times over the last two weeks. The bothersome caller said he had a threesome going on and a house keeper walked in on him. He said he was calling to apologize to the house keeper.

Thursday, July 29

    • 4:09 a.m. — A West Shadowood Lane caller reported seeing a large crowd of people running and then scattering.

    • 6:04 a.m. — A Lowdermilk Lane caller said she could hear someone breaking into her house, but it turned out to be her cat.

    • 1:45 p.m. — A drunk man was passed out on the couch inside Fast Bucks.

    • 4:12 p.m. — A Mountain View Street caller said someone stole all of her patio furniture and hanging pots.

    • 9:42 p.m. — A County Road 52 caller said a man on a four-wheeler was harassing him and telling him he had a gun.

    • 10:01 p.m. — State Police investigated a claim that a County Road 56 man was screaming curse words.

A Pile of Drunks

Friday, July 30

    • 11:24 a.m. — A Walmart caller said two shoplifters left the store with watches and earrings, but staff lost track of them. The couple left for Chili’s and were later seen at Rent-A-Center but police could not locate them, according to dispatch logs.

    • 12:06 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said a man in a parked car appeared to be having a seizure.

    • 1:26 p.m. — A Paseo de Oñate caller reported seeing a drunk man walking around. Police found two bottles of vodka in the man’s pockets.

    • 4:50 p.m. — A South Riverside Drive caller saw a drunk man without a shirt jumping in and out of traffic.

    • 7 p.m. — A North Paseo de Oñate caller saw two baby raccoons in a tree. A Game and Fish officer said to leave the raccoons alone and they were probably afraid of the dog the caller had with her.

    • 10:39 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said a shirtless man with tattoos was drinking beer in the parking lot of Allsup’s Convenience Store.

Boyfriend Missing Pants Following Fight

Saturday, July 31

    • 12:24 a.m. — A Jiron Street caller said she got into an argument with her boyfriend after they both had been drinking and she locked him out of the house. She said she didn’t want him there anymore and told dispatchers he was in his boxers at the neighbor’s house.

    • 1:36 a.m. — A South Yucca Street caller said a drunk man was banging on cars, saying he was lost and did not know what to do.

    • 2:08 a.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said he could hear a woman going around knocking on doors. The caller later said she took someone’s cell phone and hit him with a belt.

    • 9:11 a.m. — A Highway 84/285 caller said someone threw paint all over her vehicle sometime during the night.

    • 11:55 a.m. — A Mountain View Street caller said she was away from home for a few days and returned to find her television, laptop and Blu-ray disc player missing.

    • 2:08 p.m. — Staff at Valley Superette complained that a man was urinating on the side of their building.

    • 7:42 p.m. — Someone was siphoning gas from a vehicle parked at the Lucero Center, a caller said.

Sunday, Aug. 1

    • 2:24 a.m. — A State Road 68 caller said he was getting calls from his family, who were saying his uncle was being belligerent and wanting to fight everybody.

    • 3:47 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said there was a dark truck  that was trying to run him off the road.

    • 4:37 p.m. — A Calle Chamisal caller saw an intoxicated male passed out on the ground holding a large coffee cup.

    • 6:59 p.m. — A Santa Cruz Country Store caller said a man walked into the store without a shirt on. When someone told him to put a shirt on the man tried to fight them.

    • 7:45 p.m. — A Calle de Pajarito caller said five women threatened to “jump” her daughter because of something that happened two weeks ago.
