    Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:

Windows Dragged into Custody Battle

Monday, Sept. 27

    • 12:37 a.m. — A County Road 41 caller said someone came into his home and hit him and his son. The man said they had his son out in the road and were beating him.

    • 2:25 a.m. — An Ohkay RV Park caller said people were sleeping in the showers there.

    • 8:32 a.m. — A North Orchard Lane caller said she needed help with her 11-year-old son, who did not want to take a shower or his ADHD medication.

    • 10:29 a.m. — A Calle Roybal caller said four teenage boys were skipping school and throwing rocks at cars.

    • 12:01 p.m. — A Rio Del Oso Street caller said he was a repo man and someone pulled a box cutter on him while he was trying to take a car. The caller said the man with the knife did not own the car.

    • 3:15 p.m. — An Española Middle School caller said a student assaulted a security guard by throwing a rock at the guard.

    • 10:01 p.m. — A Camino Carlos caller, who was a small child, gave the phone to a man, who said the mother of his child came to take his son, pushed the son off the fence and dragged him to the car. He also said she broke the windows to his house. Emergency dispatch could hear screaming and yelling.

Tuesday, Sept. 28

    • 6:53 a.m. — A Hindi Avenue caller said someone was selling drugs in the area. The caller said a person involved in the deal drove up and woke up a dog, who started barking and waking people up.

    • 7:24 a.m. — A State Road 68 caller saw two “fluffy white dogs” on the side of the road and was worried they would get run over.

    • 9:09 a.m. — An Alcalde Elementary caller said a student hadn’t been in class for 22 days. The caller said the student was being very aggressive and locked himself in the bathroom.

    • 1:41 p.m. — A Walmart caller said a shoplifter came into the store, leaving her baby unattended in her car, so she could shoplift. They could not detain the woman, who left.

    • 1:49 p.m. — An El Llano Road caller complained a man was drinking in his yard with two people who were from Mexico.

    • 1:57 p.m. — A Rhoc Express gas station caller said a local “street walker” was upset because they wouldn’t let her in to use the bathroom.

    • 6:36 p.m. — A Shadowwood Lane caller said a woman was released from jail because her family member was dying. She said the woman was planning to run.

Wednesday, Sept. 29

    • 3:28 a.m. — A Tropicana bar caller said a man was in the parking lot, sleeping in his vehicle.

    • 9:57 a.m. — A Dollar Deals caller said she found a knife in the parking lot two days ago, and she found another knife in the parking lot that morning.

    • 10:12 a.m. — A Wells Fargo bank caller said someone was in the bathroom doing drugs. The caller said they found a spoon. Dispatch logs state the man was asked to empty his pockets but he had nothing in them.

    • 3:07 p.m. — An F&A Car Wash caller said someone damaged the change maker and tried breaking into it.

    • 4:10 p.m. — A State Road 399 caller said her home was broken into and a computer, jewelry and movies were taken.

    • 7:17 p.m. — A man claimed he was attacked at Crown Liquors when he bought a bottle of alcohol there and attempted to open it in the store.

    • 8:59 p.m. — A Private Drive 1610 caller said workers from a rental business stole his cell phone while they were at his house to take a television away.

Pitbulls Protect Their Turf

Thursday, Sept. 30

    • 9:23 a.m. — A blue trash barrel was stolen from the county 911 center.

    • 10:14 a.m. — A Jack Rabbit Trail caller said a man was beaten with an ax handle and another person pulled a gun on him. The caller took the gun away from the other man.

    • 10:14 a.m. — An Española Middle School caller said someone tagged the boy’s locker room with graffiti.

    • 12:28 p.m. — A Juniper Lane caller said $700 was stolen from his money bag sometime the day before.

    • 2 p.m. — An Española Car Wash caller said there were four men in a car he thought were drinking.

    • 2:04 p.m. — A County Road 73 caller wanted police to check on her son because she said he was stealing things for drug money and she thought people were after him who wanted to kill him.

    • 7:40 p.m. — A Private Drive 1533 caller said there was a group of pitbulls in the area that morning that were not allowing children to walk to the bus stop.

Hooking Them Young

Friday, Oct. 1

    • 12:21 a.m. — A Northern New Mexico College of Española caller said there was a suspicious vehicle sitting beside the library with its lights on. No one was inside.

    • 5:11 a.m. — A “huge” tree fell in the road in front of Bode’s General Store.

    • 10:07 a.m. — An Española High School caller said there was a girl in custody who was under the influence of marijuana.

    • 10:29 a.m. — A County Road 411 caller said her brother, who lives in Cuba, was saying he was going to kill himself. Another brother took all of the guns out of the house.

    • 11:44 a.m. — A Fairview Lane and North Riverside Drive caller called to complain that he was waiting for the left-hand traffic signal to turn on. He said he had waited 20 minutes for it to turn green.

    • 12:18 p.m. — An Española Middle School caller said four needles were found in the toilet of the boy’s restroom.

    • 6:05 p.m. — A Walgreen’s caller said there were people inside a gold four-door Honda with a Kiss 97.3 bumper sticker and they were smoking marijuana.

    • 9:26 p.m. — A Simmons Lane caller said there were three people standing by two older-model vehicles preparing to fight.

    • 9:46 p.m. — A Hindi Avenue caller asked for police to take her husband out of their home because he was drunk. She told police she was tired of her husband being drunk. Police told her they couldn’t take him in for detoxification out of his own home.

    • 10:17 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said her brother was beaten up by Fairview Sonic. She said there were men in the parking lot wearing black and one of them had a baseball bat.

Saturday, Oct. 2

    • 2:13 a.m. — A Highway 84/285 caller said there was a drunk man outside her home yelling.

    • 3:26 a.m. — A Kennedy Loop caller said she saw two females and a male walking then heard one of the women scream for help.

    • 8:28 a.m. — Staff at the Hoy Recovery center said a woman drove herself to the center and blew positive for being intoxicated.

    • 1:16 p.m. — A Private Drive 1615 caller said her neighbor found a horse in the national forest that had a saddle on and looked “all messed up.” Sheriff’s Deputies found a man two hours after that who said he was looking for the horse for about five hours. He said the horse left him and he had been walking for about eight miles.

    • 4:39 p.m. — A Z4 Tractor caller said a man was sitting on the hood of a green Toyota Camry that had children in it. The caller said he was throwing pills to women.

Prowlers, Poison and Perverts

Sunday, Oct. 3

    • 1 a.m. — A Private Drive 1663 caller said she just got home. She said she went upstairs and heard her door opening downstairs. Police checked the home and said it was secure.

    • 1:36 a.m.— A State Road 554 caller said a shirtless man was kneeling over in the road and “flipping off” cars that drove past him.

    • 4:18 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said his 15-year-old daughter was being harassed by a man he thought was a sexual predator.

    • 8:20 p.m. — An Ohkay Casino caller asked for police to help with an extremely drunk man. After the police showed up the man fell and struck the side of his face on the ground. Dispatch called for an ambulance.

    • 8:48 p.m. — A Highway 84 caller said a 13-year-old girl was bitten by something on her left arm and she was having problems breathing. She said the girl was itchy, nauseated and felt a tingling sensation.

    • 10:39 p.m. — A Hunter Street caller said he was dropped off and another man tried to rape him. Police searched for the suspect by DeVargas Funeral Home and “under the bridge” but they were not able to find anyone.
