Panhandler Night Shift
Monday, Jan. 3
• 1:58 a.m. — A Vista Del Rio Apartments caller said a man with a backpack was knocking on doors asking if anyone wanted to buy DVDs.
• 5:14 a.m. — A Jemez View Street caller said his neighbor came over claiming her daughter and her daughter’s boyfriend were fighting with her. The police spoke to the daughter, who said this was because her mother was upset that they were hiding money from her.
• 1:55 p.m. — While attempting to serve a warrant on a man, Sheriff’s deputies had to chase the man in the area of San Juan Elementary through thick brush along the river bed, according to deputy James Lujan. Deputies said they caught the man near a fish pond and were taking him to Española Hospital for evaluation.
• 2:16 p.m. — A Hernandez Elementary caller said a man was on the side of the road with someone who was not breathing. Someone was performing CPR on the man and the man’s pulse and breathing returned. The man was transported to the hospital.
• 3:47 p.m. — A Center Market caller said someone was parked in front of El Rey Liquors apparently injecting himself in the arm with a brown substance.
• 4:29 p.m. — A Highway 84 caller said there was a pig in the middle of the road and someone was trying to make it get out of the way.
• 11:03 p.m. — A Private Drive 1658 caller said he got into an argument with his girlfriend, who hit him in the face with a bag of clothes.

Tuesday, Jan. 4
• 9 a.m. — A state Children Youth and Families Department caller said she left an envelope of money out, which was part of a collection she was taking for a family, and the envelope went missing. She said this had been an ongoing thing.
• 11:11 a.m. — A Calle Del Alamo caller said a brown and white pit bull was attacking the “trash guys.”
• 11:36 a.m. — A Private Drive 1612A caller said her mother was hitting her. Dispatch could hear the caller yelling for the attacker to keep her hands off of her, then the line went dead.
• 2:12 p.m. — A County Road 41 caller said he saw people inside a pickup truck breaking into a home using a shovel.
• 4:08 p.m. — An Old Hospital Road caller said he returned home from lunch and saw his Porsche was missing. The man later learned his son took it to take his girlfriend to her home in Los Alamos.
• 10:04 p.m. — A man said he was at Club Lumina and “some guys” hit him and broke his glasses after he was dancing with a girl there. He said he just wanted to get his glasses fixed. The caller sounded very drunk, dispatch workers noted. He called later, saying someone shot him in the leg and he was ready to go to jail. He would not say who shot him and later said he was not shot. Deputies found him along the side of the road and gave him a ride to his house.

• 12:24 a.m. — A West Granada Street caller reported a “yellowish color debris” coming into his shower.
• 9:29 a.m. — A Wal-Mart caller reported someone trespassing in the store. He said the last time this person was there, he pulled a knife on the person who tried to stop him.
• 9:45 a.m. — A Lovin’ Oven caller reported a battery behind the store. A man said his brother hit him and was running away down Corlette Road.
• 10:15 a.m — A Cook’s Home Center caller said a man drove up and slashed an employee’s tires.
• 2:28 p.m. — An Española Humane Society caller said a man didn’t have money to get his impounded dog out and said, “What goes around comes around.”

Thursday, Jan. 6
• 8:35 a.m. — A State Road 30 caller said police could find two robbery suspects who are at the clinic every morning. Police did not find the couple there.
• 8:43 a.m. — A Private Drive 1037B caller said someone broke into his home and stole a plasma television and a .38 caliber handgun.
• 2:35 p.m. — A Fairview Elementary caller said there was a man by one of the kindergarten classes watching the kids. The man was a grandparent of one of the students.
• 3:10 p.m. — A Lucero Center caller said two juveniles ran out of the library with the alarm sounding behind them.
• 8:18 p.m. — Española Police took a report at their station in which someone stated they were getting threatening phone calls from someone who said he was going to break the windows to their cars.
• 10:45 p.m. — A South Riverside Drive caller said a man in a white sport utility vehicle went to her door and was knocking on it. The caller said the man was standing there holding a baseball bat. The man was hitting the door with the bat but had left the area. Police could not find the man’s car.

Friday, Jan. 7
• 12:42 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller reported two panhandlers by Lowe’s Supersave. Police read them the city ordinance on panhandling, and they dispersed.
• 1:27 p.m. — A state Children Youth and Families Department caller said a man who smelled of alcohol tried handing her some papers and knocked her down.
• 3:04 p.m. — A North Paseo De Oñate caller reported she found her stolen vehicle parked behind the Chamisa School of Driving.
• 4:59 p.m. — A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller said some tools were stolen from the back of his pickup while he was shopping.
• 6:39 p.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller said a man was trying to break into an apartment through the window. Children were yelling and a woman said her boyfriend was beating her.
• 7:18 p.m. — A North Railroad Avenue caller said three men were trying to kick in the door to the Head Start preschool.
• 9:42 p.m. — A Camino de Quintana caller reported finding two dogs who were tied together at the tails. The woman untied them and gave them food.
• 11:39 p.m. — A West Roman Drive caller said she was tired of her daughter because she drinks every day and then starts fighting.
“Intoxicated and Unwanted”
Saturday, Jan. 8
• 12:02 a.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller said a man came inside the apartment, threw a can at her, then pointed a 9 mm gun at her. The man threw her into the wall and hit her face before leaving.
• 12:28 a.m. — A Kennedy Loop caller said she was just thrown out of the house by her sister and she was outside with a cane, wearing a leg brace.
• 4:06 a.m. — A Santo Niño Lane caller said her sister, about whom they had filed a missing persons report, ran out of the house through the window. They followed the sister to another house and recovered her.
• 11:43 a.m. — A Calle Olivas caller said his daughter was “intoxicated and unwanted.” The female was described as nonviolent and unable to walk. She was taken to Española Jail for detoxification.
• 1:02 p.m. — An Alcalde Transfer Station caller reported that someone possibly climbed the fence and stole truck batteries.
• 1:28 p.m. — An El Portero Road caller said a woman was having a nervous breakdown and beating herself up.
• 1:42 p.m. — A Martinez Lane caller said kids were hiding behind a wall, hitting cars with rocks and shooting at cars with BB guns.
• 8:37 p.m. — A Guachapangue Road caller said a man in a black pullover jacket tried getting into her daughter’s vehicle.

• 2:43 a.m. — A Calle de Pajarito caller said a green car kept driving in circles around the neighborhood. She said the car was too loud and was giving her a headache.
• 2:01 p.m. — A Highway 84 caller said his shed was broken into and two welders were stolen.
• 3:05 p.m. — A State Road 68 caller said a man was hitting a woman and was “on top of” her and her baby. The attacker was pulled off by another female witness.
• 4:08 p.m. — A Carr Lane caller said someone injected something into the back of his neck about one hour ago. The man said he heard someone run through the side door. A dispatch worker called the man’s son and said he needed to go to his father’s residence.
• 5:55 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said a Kentucky Fried Chicken employee was attacked when someone threw money and chicken at her.
