Police Blotter: Drunk Man Wants to Stay in Church

    Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:

Beer Raiders

Monday, Aug. 30

    • 12:28 a.m. — A Calle Algodones caller said she was trying to get her baby from a man who punched her in the face.

    • 7:29 a.m. — About 50 cows were in the road in front of the State Police office in Chama.

    • 12:28 p.m. — A Convento caller said two men were doing narcotics by the fountain.

    • 1:27 p.m. — An Española Middle School caller reported a fight involving four girls. Police were speaking to the District Attorney’s office about threats and stated someone involved possessed high blood pressure pills.

    • 5:27 p.m. — An Archuleta Trailer Court caller said two kids, one of which was a heavy set boy, were pulling rocks out of a wall that had a wagon wheel in it.

    • 8:37 p.m. — A Walgreen’s caller said two women and a man were selling radars and other electronics from two big bags.

    • 9:19 p.m. — A Valdez Park caller reported that a group of people were getting into a fight. Police found the people were merely playing hacky sack. Police dispersed the people.

    • 9:34 p.m. — A Giant Gas Station caller said someone driving a GMC Jimmy with a Raiders bumper sticker on the back window stole beer from them.

Tuesday, Aug. 31

    • 9:08 a.m. — A State Road 595 caller said a man was sprayed with some kind of oil or gas at an oil rig. The man was transported to the hospital by helicopter for burns.

    • 10 a.m. — A Sheriff’s Deputy took a report about a stolen petrified rock.

    • 2:23 p.m. — A Wells Fargo Bank caller complained that someone was selling carne seca near the ATM.

    • 3:15 p.m. — A Kentucky Fried Chicken caller said people were fighting behind the store. It was later reported that the two were just children who were playing behind the store, according to emergency dispatch logs.

    • 3:20 p.m. — A Walmart caller said a man with a needle looked like he was overdosing and was asking people for money.

    • 5:53 p.m. — A Lowe’s Home Improvement caller reported a man who was covered with blood walking toward a van and someone chased him away from the van. The man was transported to the hospital.

    • 8:21 p.m. — An Upper San Pedro Road caller said her cat was caught in the air conditioner. It was alive, but she didn’t know what to do.

    • 8:36 p.m. — A Calle Chacoma Vista caller said someone broke into his house and stole three flat screen televisions and a Playstation video game system.

Wednesday, Sept. 1

    • 2:23 a.m. — A Vista Del Rio Apartments caller told dispatch he took cocaine, which was mixed with his regular medication, and then had a dream he was going to hell. He said he was afraid to die but said he did not intend to hurt anyone.

    • 8:18 a.m. — A Milagro Village Mobile Home Park caller said his vehicle was broken into and his stereo was stolen. The thieves left his trunk open.

    • 8:25 a.m. — A Big Rock Casino man said there was someone in a white car trying to run him over. One of the males had a knife.

    • 11:53 a.m. — A Highway 64 caller said she was coming from Bloomfield and passed an elderly female and a 20-year-old man on the side of the road. One of the two was throwing up blood and an ambulance was called.

    • 6:56 p.m. — A Calle Rodriguez caller said a couple years ago his brother made a key to the water meter and the city took the key, covered the keyhole and sprayed it blue.

Thursday, Sept. 2

    • 2:29 a.m. — An officer was pursuing a person on County Road 41, who acted like he wanted to fight an officer. The man went inside his house and would not come out. The officer asked for backup, but was not able to get any because the house was out of his jurisdiction. The officer filed a report with the Adult Probation Office.

    • 8:13 a.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller said the front windows of her car were broken out and a brick was laying next to her car.

    • 8:18 a.m. — An Ohkay Eagle Mart caller reported a woman who was in a vehicle and appeared to be having an overdose. The caller said the woman woke up and said she just fell asleep.

    • 11:01 a.m. A North Calle Don Leandro caller told police he found a used needle that he marked with a chalk mark.

    • 11:32 a.m. — A Jonathon Drive caller said his son was drunk and wanted to take the air conditioner. The caller said he was drinking too, but only had one beer.

    • 2:22 p.m. — A Northern New Mexico College in Española caller said there were students in class by the cosmetology department who were drunk.

    • 5:29 p.m. — A Triple S grocery caller complained that people were doing drugs in the bathroom.

    • 11:55 p.m. — A Walmart caller said someone was trying to break into a blue Dodge pickup in the parking lot.

Zombie Bear Hunt

Friday, Sept. 3

    • 5:57 a.m. — A Calle Quintana caller said she was afraid because she heard three loud bangs from her kitchen. She was crying.

    • 11:17 a.m. — A Calle Redondo caller said a drunk person was banging on a fence with a stick.

    • 12:13 p.m. — A South McCurdy Road caller saw three children, one of whom was climbing up a light pole carrying a string.

    • 1:02 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said a man was trespassing on his property again. The caller said the man did the same on Wednesday and had a knife with him then.

    • 1:25 p.m. — A Pine Avenue caller said his cousin pulled a gun out on him and said he was going to shoot his truck.

    • 2:53 p.m. — A Fairview Trailer Court caller found a pistol magazine loaded with 15  rounds.

    • 3:29 p.m. — A Bank of America caller saw a silver Mustang with a driver who was holding a syringe in his mouth.

    • 6:50 p.m. — A County Road 41 caller complained that her neighbor’s dogs were coming into her yard and killing her chickens.

    • 7:30 p.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller complained about people drinking near the playground, which was making children afraid to play there.  One man was taken by police for detoxification.

    • 9:44 p.m. — A State Road 68 caller said someone was trying to shoot a bear in the cemetery.

Saturday, Sept. 4

    • 1:18 a.m. — A Rock Christian Fellowship caller asked for help getting an intoxicated man to leave. The man did not want to go.

    • 11:30 a.m. — A County Road 323 caller said her neighbor jumped over the fence and attacked her. She was bleeding from her eye and was afraid the man was going back to his house to get a gun.

    • 11:46 a.m. — A Calle Redondo caller said she was attacked by her cat for the second time in the last few days. She said her arms were very swollen and she had to be prescribed antibiotics for her wounds. She asked that animal control officers pick the cat up.

    • 12:26 p.m. — A woman at the Tierra Amarilla clinic said she was attacked by someone who jumped on her and was punching her face into the gravel.

    • 2:55 p.m. — A Fairview Lane caller reported seeing someone riding in the back seat of a vehicle holding a baby on their lap.

    • 6:29 p.m. — A State Road 76 caller said there was a man who kept falling down and getting helped up by a female who was walking with him. The caller did not know what was wrong with the man.

    • 8:24 p.m. — A Dairy Queen caller said there was a man in the parking lot who was exposing himself and masturbating in a vehicle. The vehicle was gone by the time police got there.

Sunday, Sept. 5

    • 1:42 a.m. — A Jemez View Street caller scared a man away from his car who was going through his glove box.

    • 7:25 a.m. — A Private Drive 1064 caller wanted help removing her husband who was drunk the night before but was sobering up. He tried hitting her, but was unable to, she said. He also tried to disable the truck so she could not leave.

    • 10:46 a.m. — A red pickup truck damaged a light pole at the RHOC Express and took it off its base, exposing its wires.

    • 3:28 p.m. — A Calle Elena caller said she was harassed by a woman over the phone who threatened to “kick her butt” if she didn’t leave her mother alone. The woman reporting the harassment said the threat was because the suspect’s mother was having an affair with her husband.

    • 4:12 p.m. — A state Road 96 caller reported a near-drowning by the Abiquiú dam. A man swallowed a lot of water. The patient was alert and breathing, according to call logs.

    • 8:14 p.m. — Medics intercepted a vehicle with a 7-year-old male who was bitten on the top of his foot by a rattle snake. There was pain going up his leg and the wound was swelled to about the size of a quarter.
