Beefing With Beggars
Monday, Oct. 18
• 1:31 a.m. — A P&L Grocery caller thought someone was trying to break into the store. He said he turned on the lights to the gas pumps and the banging he was hearing stopped.
• 7:37 a.m. — A North Paseo De Oñate caller wanted her brother removed from her home because the last time he was there he stole her pills.
• 8:36 a.m. — A San Pedro Shell caller said panhandlers were harassing customers who were yelling at the group of panhandlers.
• 11:44 a.m. — A State Road 215 caller complained that two horses and two miniature horses were running around the road and in people’s yards.
• 2:07 p.m. — A Highway 84/285 caller said shots were fired by two males in a blue car that had a loud pipe on it.
• 4:08 p.m. — An Industrial Park Road caller said some students from the middle school were laying down in the middle of the road and playing chicken with the traffic.
• 7 p.m. — A Lucero Center caller said a man dropped a weight on his finger. The man refused medical attention but the caller said his finger was wrapped in a towel and bleeding a lot.
• 8:51 p.m. — A Victoria Drive caller came home and found the lights on in her kitchen, her bedroom door open and everything “in a mess.”
Burglary Fail
Tuesday, Oct. 19
• 12:31 a.m. — A Dakota Lane man said he was asleep when the owner of the house broke his television with a hammer.
• 9:04 a.m. — An Española Military Academy caller said someone slashed tires to their vehicles and got into their buses.
• 11:31 a.m. — A Jemez View Street caller said her sister was driving her car, possibly under the influence of narcotics. Dispatch reported she called over the last two days wanting welfare checks on her sister and mother regarding the car. The mother said this was because the caller wanted the car and she could not have it until her father was out of jail.
• 2:07 p.m. — An East Bond Street caller said a man jumped over a fence, stole a weedeater and a saw, then ran off. The man fell in a ditch, where he still was when the woman called police. The man left on foot by the time police arrived.
• 11:20 p.m. — Police pulled over a vehicle near the Big Rock Casino because the driver matched a description of an immigrant who escaped from federal custody. The man inside the truck wasn’t the suspect, but police reported there was a drunk juvenile in the back seat.
Morphine Hissy Fit
Wednesday, Oct. 20
• 9:12 a.m. — A Lower San Pedro Road caller said he was having chest pain and wanted his life to be over. He refused an ambulance because he was taking care of a sick family member.
• 9:55 a.m. — Animal Control officers tried, but were unable to catch a small Chihuahua running around at Pajarito Mobile Home Sales.
• 11:38 a.m. — A Center Market caller said someone was using a needle behind the Del Norte Insurance company. The person may have been a suspect in the theft of a chainsaw.
• 12:22 p.m. — A Lower San Pedro Road caller complained that her neighbor was harassing her and her family kept calling her bad names.
• 12:42 p.m. — An El Centro Family Health caller said there was a suicidal man in the parking lot who didn’t have a plan on how to die yet, but was upset that people there wouldn’t prescribe him morphine.
• 2:22 p.m. — An Española Hospital caller complained that a drunk female patient was being vulgar and pulling out her IV.
• 4:11 p.m. — A Private Drive 1001 caller said her house was trashed and her blue truck was gone.
• 7:35 p.m. — A Santa Claran Hotel Casino caller said two men stole her purse when she was walking out of the bowling alley.
Walmart Peep Show
Thursday, Oct. 21
• 1:55 a.m. — A Megill Street caller said she heard gunshots right by her window. An officer parked by the home for about 25 minutes with his lights off, but the officer did not see anything.
• 6:10 a.m. — A Lucero Center caller said someone broke into two offices and all the vending machines using a hammer.
• 2:20 p.m. — A Walgreen’s caller said six people were near the building harassing customers. He said one of the people there tried stealing a purse from a customer. Police could not locate the crowd.
• 5:07 p.m. — An Upper San Pedro Road caller said a group of about 10 people were fighting outside.
• 5:57 p.m. — A Walmart caller said a man in a white Ford car was exposing himself. The caller lost sight of the vehicle, which was heading toward the light at Chili’s.
• 6:09 p.m. — An Old Hospital Road caller said people were “shooting up” outside and throwing rocks at passing cars.
• 7:03 p.m. — A Lowe’s Supersave caller said they kicked a man out of the store for shoplifting, but he was sitting in his car flashing his lights at workers.
Drunk Hiking
Friday, Oct. 22
• 2:17 a.m. — A South Riverside Drive caller said his brother was harassing him. He claimed that a woman was slapped during the fight and his brother threw a Coke on him and ran toward the river.
• 5:36 a.m. — A County Road 229 caller said someone pushed the back door open while she was asleep and stole $90. She woke up and said the people heard her and ran away through the field.
• 12:50 p.m. — A Walgreen’s caller said two men in a maroon car appeared to be drunk or passed out. The men woke up and drove away.
• 5:45 p.m. — A State Road 68 caller said a family member was in a red pickup truck and he was unstable. The man was in an argument and said he was going to kill himself. The family located him at a friend’s house, stating everything was fine.
• 6:58 p.m. — An Old Hospital Road caller said her husband was throwing furniture around the residence. She didn’t want him arrested. Police told the couple to stay at least ten feet away from each other.
• 9:16 p.m. — A Cook Street caller said someone was breaking into her house. Her window was broken and the alarm system was cut.
• 10:16 p.m. — State Police searched for a missing person in the mountains by State Road 76 and County Road 75. The person was found at about 2 a.m. and was fine, just drunk.
• 10:26 p.m. — A Walmart caller said a man with a knife approached her friend’s husband and stole her MP3 player.
Shoplifting High-Score
Saturday, Oct. 23
• 2:44 a.m. — A Roadrunner Drive woman said a man broke into her residence and stole her children. Police later learned the children wanted to live with the father and both the mother and her boyfriend were drunk. They also said the father was struck in the face several times.
• 10:55 a.m. — A State Road 68 caller said someone in a Jeep Cherokee stole her big-screen television and a gun safe.
• 4:10 p.m. — A Ranchitos park caller said there were some needles left by the bathrooms and he asked that someone come to pick them up.
• 4:53 p.m. — A Walmart caller said a female ran out of the store with about $1,000 of merchandise after her check would not go through. She left with a vacuum cleaner, a cookware set and a sewing machine.
• 10:14 p.m. — A Calle Duran caller said about seven children were egging cars in the area.
Karaoke Menace
Sunday, Oct. 24
• 12:13 a.m. — A La Joya Street caller complained about a loud party. Police arrived to find people singing karaoke outside. Police gave them an hour to finish or else they would take action.
• 1:22 a.m. — A North Yucca Street caller said there were people fighting in a vehicle with a man trying to drag a woman out of the vehicle.
• 1:37 p.m. — A Calle Quintana caller complained about a stray dog, which was friendly but refused to leave.
• 2:16 p.m. — An East Pueblo Street and Ash Loop caller said two teenagers wearing hoodies had handles to guns sticking out the back of their pants.
• 3:51 p.m. — A Checker Auto Parts caller complained about shoplifters who stole some tools. Police caught up to the two men and Tazed one of them, who would not get into the police cruiser. They transported both men to the hospital because they wanted medical attention. Once they were there, they were being abusive to the medical staff and saying they wanted to kill cops.
