Police Blotter: Marauding Cows Represent on West Side

    Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:

Families Feud

Monday, Nov. 1

    • 2:55 a.m. — A County Road 141 caller said his nephew was out of hand and “hitting everyone.” The nephew broke the windows to the caller’s van.

    • 3:58 a.m. — An Angel Duran Drive caller said a woman broke the nose of his nephew. Dispatch could hear a woman yelling in the background.

    • 5:51 a.m. — A North Riverside Drive Family Dollar caller said someone broke into the store using a rock. The caller was checking to see if anything was missing.

    • 10:06 a.m. — A Domino’s Pizza caller asked for an ambulance to help with a drunk 15-year-old in their parking lot.

    • 1:09 p.m. — A County Road 79 caller said his brother pulled out a revolver on him. He said his brother does this every time he sees him.

    • 4:10 p.m. — A County Road 94 caller lost his 3-year-old son, who was last seen in the shower. The child was found up the road, playing in the trees.

    • 6:10 p.m. — A State Road 76 caller said someone threw a rock at his plumber’s car while his wife was inside it.

    • 7:55 p.m. — A Highway 84/285 caller said her daughter’s boyfriend was holding her daughter hostage. Police checked the home and could not find anyone.

Tuesday, Nov. 2

    • 5:07 a.m. — A La Tiendita caller said a man was down on the roadway and someone else was standing over him. Police learned the man was just changing a flat tire.

    • 7:25 a.m. — A Domino’s Pizza caller said a cow was standing in the road by the restaurant.

    • 9:15 a.m. — A Chacoma Lane caller said some dogs were trying to kill miniature horses. Animal Control workers caught one pit bull, but said it was in “tribal” so it was let go.

    • 10:01 a.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said some contractors were unable to get to work because of a skunk in the area.

    • 1:38 p.m. — A County Road 175 caller said he was being threatened by a man who thought the caller snitched on him over marijuana plants.

    • 10:20 p.m. — A River Road caller asked to check on a man. Police called the residence and spoke to someone who said he was okay, but drank to much and was “tripping out.”

Dad Gets Hammered

Wednesday, Nov. 3

    • 1:06 a.m. — A Comfort Inn caller said a drunk couple walked into the lobby and the woman had been sprayed in the face with something. They asked the caller to call the woman’s mother, but the mother did not want to pick them up.

    • 1:28 a.m. — A Las Vegas Street caller said an old Crown Victoria formerly belonging to the city kept parking in front of the residence.

    • 9:35 a.m. — A Highland View caller said his girlfriend took a whole bottle of pills and was drinking hand sanitizer to kill herself.

    • 9:41 a.m. — A woman went to the Española Police Department to report someone stole her laptop from the car, possibly while it was parked at El Parasol.

    • 11:58 a.m. — A Chimayó Highway caller said a man in a car was trying to hit him because he was trying to get him moved out of the house. The caller said the man threw a beer at him.

    • 12:01 p.m. — A Calle Tecolote caller said a man went to her house and was causing problems. She said the man hit her father with a hammer, but he did not need an ambulance.

    • 1:40 p.m. — A Calle Espinoza caller said two men in a red truck were stealing rocks.

Thursday, Nov. 4

    • 8:56 a.m. — A city employee at the compound on North Railroad Avenue said someone stole a chain saw from a city vehicle.

    • 9:52 a.m. — A Private Drive 1007A caller said her 15-year-old son was trying to break into her home and she felt threatened by him.

    • 11:53 a.m. — A Winesap Drive caller said his 51-year-old son stole a Taser and was threatening to kill someone with it.

    • 6:40 p.m. — A Rhoc Express gas station caller said an extremely drunk man was inside the business and harassing customers.

    • 7:03 p.m. — A caller said there would be a fight between members of a motorcycle club at the Tropicana bar and she wanted officers to check on her husband there.

    • 9:09 p.m. — A North Railroad Avenue caller said she injured her leg three months ago and was feeling dizzy and weak.

    • 11:47 p.m. — About seven cows were on the Valdez Bridge, according to dispatch.

Classic Identity Theft

Friday, Nov. 5

    • 12:22 a.m. — An East Sanchez Street caller said she had some women over the Saturday before helping her with a garage sale. After that she said she noticed important paperwork, such as Social Security cards and birth certificates were missing. She claimed the people who helped her were from Mexico.

    • 11:34 a.m. — A State Road 68 caller in a white pickup truck reported an overdose, saying he picked up a hitchhiker and let the man use his phone. The driver pulled into Taco Bell where the man was being looked after by medics.

    • 11:58 a.m. — A Walmart caller said a man who goes by “Worm” was in the hardware department, opening DVDs.

    • 12:03 p.m. — A La Joya Street caller reported a man wearing a blue-gray flannel (jacket) was running after a female with a knife.

    • 1:47 p.m. — A Povi Street caller said his friend was having a bad run of luck and said he was going to drink himself to death.

    • 3:08 p.m. — A North Paseo De Oñate caller said a man was stalking her. She said the man was leaving “items” on her vehicle while she was at work.

    • 3:46 p.m. — A Walmart caller said a man left the store with three watches.

    • 4:07 p.m. — A County Road 40 caller said his home was broken into through his living room window. He said his televisions, a Playstation videogame system and tools were stolen.

    • 7:45 p.m. — A County Road 57 caller said a man was trying to kick his door in. The man, who may have been drunk, said he wanted to slit his wrist and was taking antibiotics.

    • 8:57 p.m. — An El Paragua caller said she left the restaurant and a man snatched her purse and ran away.

Saturday, Nov. 6

    • 1:34 a.m. — A caller reported an extremely drunk man off of Ki Street, who drank a fifth of vodka and fell.

    • 8:46 a.m. — A Lucero Center caller said she just got into her office and found the safe missing.

    • 10:50 a.m. — A Private Drive 1074 caller said her husband had been locking her medicine in his office. She said her bottles were missing and she thought her son was taking them.

    • 12:48 p.m. — A County Road 41 caller said a man who used to be married to her aunt was in her yard trying to steal things.

    • 1:48 p.m. — A State Road 68 caller said she was in a rent dispute with a man who threatened to burn down her trailer.

    • 6:25 p.m. — A Garden Loop caller said she was trying to get a gun off a man who wanted to kill himself. Dispatch logs note there was a non-emergency transportation to the hospital made from that address.

    • 6:27 a.m. — A Kennedy Loop caller said someone was cooking on a new stove and the smell of gas was making it hard to breathe and was burning their eyes.

Sunday, Nov. 7

    • 12:45 a.m. — A Rio Chama Chevron caller said someone in  a vehicle with about eight people inside was shining a flashlight at the business.

    • 1:21 a.m. — A Calle Redondo caller said a man was outside their home yelling that they had one more chance to open the door “or else.”

    • 2:25 a.m. — A County Road 240 caller said his house was broken into, but it did not look like anything was missing. The caller thought the burglar was scared off.

    • 11:23 a.m. — A North Orchard Lane caller said she was looking after her deceased mother’s home when someone put truck keys on the porch as well as a rose. 

    • 2:06 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller saw a woman in a wheelchair with a lot of blankets, who was not moving.

    • 3:17 p.m. — A Walmart caller said a man shoplifted three boxes of arrow tips from the store.

    • 6:28 p.m. — A State Road 503 caller said a man overdosed, but they threw water on him and he woke up.
