Police Blotter: ‘Street Walker’ Rolls Anonymous Man in Foothills

    Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:

Monday, July 19

    • 1:20 a.m. — A Camino Arbolera caller said a suicidal man poured gasoline on himself and took several Lortabs.

    • 1:21 a.m. — A North Yucca Street caller said his cousins were drunk and he asked an officer to go look for them.

    • 10 a.m. — A Center Market caller said a woman was soliciting sex out in front of the store. Officers were not able to find the woman.

    • 11:02 a.m. — A Las Lomas apartments caller said a drunk man came into his office and started yelling and threatening him.

    • 11:05 a.m. — A Fairview Lane caller said someone broke into his home through the living room window and took a television, a laptop, a Playstation 3 videogame system and a safe.

    • 11:40 a.m. — A Lowe’s Super Save caller said he was in front of the store and another man tried to fight him.

    • 1:26 p.m. — Emergency dispatch advised officers to look out for a man who could be in danger. The man was hitchhiking and trying to get to Montana, where he believes his wife was. The man was a paranoid schizophrenic.

    • 3:05 p.m. — A State Road 68 caller said a rental home was broken into. The thief took a stove, toilets, sinks and tools.

    • 7:06 p.m. — A Sandy Lane caller said her 39-year-old son was out of control and trying to break the windows to the house. The man left but came back and broke his father’s glasses.

    • 8:31 p.m. — A Santa Clara Apartments caller said a drunk man was kicked out of an apartment and was trying to start fights.

Tuesday, July 20

    • 2:32 a.m. — A Calle San Ysidro man said he was suicidal and wanted to take pills because a family member was abusive to him and locked him in a closet.

    • 9:44 a.m. — A Lower San Pedro Road caller said she moved into a new house, but the previous owners left their dog there.

    • 12:04 p.m. — A Highway 84/285 caller said a horse wearing reins was running in the area.

    • 12:25 p.m. — A La Joya Street caller said someone was throwing things at him while he was at the F&A Carwash.

    • 4:03 p.m. — A Walmart caller found two needles by the doors and asked an officer to pick them up.

    • 6:06 p.m. — An Española Valley High School caller said there was a man holding a beer can walking in the middle of traffic. The man was wearing a white shirt, faded blue jeans and his underwear was showing.

Wednesday, July 21

    • 12:28 a.m. — A State Road 399 caller saw someone pass by his residence, firing about seven shots in the air.

    • 4:20 a.m. — A Walmart caller said a man who was covered in blood was standing outside of the store. The man was on some kind of narcotic, the caller said.

    • 11:45 a.m. — Ohkay Owingeh Police took a report of a 66-year-old man who was hit in the leg with a tire iron. His leg was broken and he was bleeding.

    • 12:05 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said a pregnant woman was going in and out of consciousness.

    • 3:12 p.m. — An intoxicated person was passed out outside of Sports Family Hair Care.

    • 8:13 p.m. — An Avenida Canada caller said a group of juveniles were driving down the street in a blue pickup truck, slamming on the brakes and yelling.

    • 9:58 p.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller said he was run over three years ago and the scar on his stomach started bleeding.

    • 10:16 p.m. — A State Road 581 caller said someone left a truck in the middle of the road.

Thursday, July 22

    • 8:56 a.m. — A State Road 76 man was lying in the fetal position in the road. He appeared to be either drunk or intoxicated, a caller told dispatch.

    • 10:17 a.m. — A Pima Road caller said a man was throwing a woman around on the ground and hitting her with a stick.

    • 11:28 a.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said someone broke into his car and stole his radio scanner.

    • 12:12 p.m. — A North Orchard Lane man said someone was calling his father and offering him money to be in a movie shoot. The son thought the call was a scam.

    • 2:08 p.m. — A Calle De Las Españolas caller said a 5-year-old boy was standing by the fountain holding a knife. Police found the child and returned him to his guardian.

    • 7:07 p.m. — A Santa Clara Peak Road caller said a woman who “walks the streets” took his money. The caller wouldn’t give his name or number, or file a report or speak to an officer. A dispatcher said there was not much they could do to help him.

Friday, July 23

    • 12:18 a.m. — A Little Creel caller said a bear was seen near campsites and tents.

    • 3:58 a.m. — A man was passed out in front of the doors to Lowe’s Super Save.

    • 5:12 a.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said he had a sign posted for a yard sale and someone threw it in the trash.

    • 9:51 a.m. — A Camino Santa Cruz caller said her 1994 Plymouth Voyager van was shot three times during the night.

    • 12:38 p.m. — A Laguna Street caller said her neighbor was chasing after her boyfriend in the yard and tore his shirt.

    • 2:50 p.m. — A man in a white Nissan was cruising around the Walmart parking lot telling women to get in his car so he could take them for a ride. An officer told him to leave the area and to “leave the women in all parking lots alone.”

    • 6:44 p.m. — A Walmart employee said a man ran from the store carrying either a pellet gun or a paintball gun.

    • 7:52 p.m. — A Fairview Lane caller complained that he could hear gunshots flying over his head. The shots turned out to be fireworks.

Saturday, July 24

    • 12:55 a.m. — A Calle de Pajarito caller said a large group of people were fighting outside of the main housing building. Police could not find any evidence of a fight .

    • 7:34 a.m. — An Española Hospital caller said a man and a woman were just discharged from the emergency room but were too intoxicated to drive home.

    • 11:32 a.m. — A South McCurdy Road woman said her husband broke into the house because she would not open the door for him. She hung up and called back, saying the man was outside the residence, but kept getting in through the window.

    • 12:53 p.m. — A San Pedro Shell caller said he was trying to use the air pump when a suspect drove in front of him and tried to start a fight.

    • 2:26 p.m. — A man attempted to shoplift from Walmart, then fled. Police caught up with him near Taco Bell, but he ran toward the Lowe’s parking lot. Police finally detained him at the Eatza Pizza.

    • 8:05 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive Family Dollar caller said a drug addict who carries needles on her keeps coming into the store and harassing her even though the drug user was banned from the store.

    • 9:02 p.m. — A RHOC Express caller complained there were a “bunch” of people drinking near the pumps.

Sunday, July 25

    • 2:02 a.m. — A La Joya Street caller complained that there was a party next door and she asked that an officer break up the party. The officer met with the resident, who turned his radio down. The caller called back later to complain that someone was outside the house singing and she asked that the people be removed from the house. The officer said he could not let them leave because they could be arrested.

    • 2:12 a.m. A Chimayó Highway caller said he was on the phone with a woman who was screaming. All they could understand was that someone was chasing her.

    • 12:48 p.m. A Highway 84 caller said someone was trying to bury someone in the same burial plot as her father’s grave. She did not want that to happen. The two sides settled the dispute amongst themselves.

    • 8:23 p.m. A Private Drive 1659 caller said a man wearing a Bob Marley T-shirt stole her cell phone.

    • 8:23 p.m. A drunk man was punching the walls at Española Hospital.
