Police Blotter: Suspicious Women Just Braiding Each Other’s Hair

    Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:

Blackout? Walk it off

Monday, Sept. 13

    • 10:03 a.m. — A State Road 76 caller said an elderly man wanted to kill himself by walking out into traffic.

    • 10:43 a.m. — A Lower San Pedro Road caller complained that a dead cat was on the road in front of her house for a week and no one came to pick it up.

    • 11 a.m. — A State Road 78 caller said a woman lost consciousness and the woman was pale and her pulse was low. The woman said she had been through that three times before and will get over it.

    • 12:52 p.m. — A Camino Arbolera caller said there were three males with baseball bats surrounding a car. The caller said one was wearing a blue bandana and all three were wearing black and baggy clothes.

    • 1:54 p.m. — A Middle San Pedro Road caller said his little brother stole power tools and a television from his house and he did not want him there anymore.

    • 6:17 p.m. — A Valley Drive caller said two women were pulled over in a tan Crown Victoria that were doing drugs. An officer said they allowed him to check the vehicle and they said they just pulled over to braid each other’s hair.

    • 7:56 p.m. — A Calle Redondo Road caller reported two dogs were tied up with only about one foot of space to move around. The caller also said a dead Chihuahua was on the road.

    • 10:04 p.m. — A Calle Del Rio caller said some people came to her for clothes and pulled out a gun. She did not want to talk to the police because she feared retaliation.

Excited Dog Traps Kid

Tuesday, Sept. 14

    • 2:04 a.m. — A car parked at the Rhoc express had a child locked inside it after a dog jumped up and hit the locks on the door.

    • 11:57 a.m. — A Del Norte Credit Union caller said a man in a vehicle nearly hit her vehicle. He then pretended to pull out a gun and point it at her.

    • 12:39 p.m. — A San Pedro Shell gas station caller said the store had been shoplifted by a “heavy set woman” who stole a burrito without paying for it.

    • 1:14 p.m. — A Birch Lane caller said her son was acting up and she wanted him out of her house. She said he was telling her to leave, but it was her house.

    • 4:08 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said her brother said a St. Francis statue was stolen from El Parasol in Pojoaque. Emergency dispatch logs state someone was charged with marijuana possession.

    • 10:11 p.m. — A North Riverside caller said a man was on the ground by La Joya Street, but the man was just drunk.

Guns and Drunks

Wednesday, Sept. 15

    • 2:51 a.m. — A South Yucca Street caller said she heard a loud noise at her home and did not want to check on it because she was afraid. She said she did not want to move.

    • 7:25 a.m. — A Walmart caller said she went to her car and said it was keyed. She corrected herself and said she simply had the wrong car and hers was fine.

    • 1:11 p.m. — A Calle Redondo caller said two men were trying to fight with her and her boyfriend. One of the men had brass knuckles and one of the men was trying to get the woman’s keys.

    • 5:50 p.m. — A Private Drive 1087 caller said her drunk neighbor was walking up and down the street screaming obscenities. She said the man threatened her by saying he was going to shoot up her house. She also thought he had a gun in his pocket.

Department Store Makeup Hustlers

Thursday, Sept. 16

    • 1:05 a.m. — An Allsup’s caller said a man he thought was on drugs was panhandling in front of the store.

    • 3:06 a.m. — A Pacheco Lane caller said someone drove an ATV into his back yard, then ran away from it.

    • 10:18 a.m. — An Allsup’s caller said two men were trying to sell people makeup out of a Walmart bag.

    • 10:51 a.m. — A Calle Ranchitos caller said someone stole some ATV’s from his residence and wanted to make a report.

    • 1:01 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller saw a white car that appeared to have “small hands” sticking out of the speakers. The caller said the car headed south, but she did not know where it was going.

    • 1:33 p.m. — A Pizza Hut caller said she was getting harassing telephone calls from someone about a pizza order.

    • 3:01 p.m. — A Quickstop caller said someone shoplifted $50 of merchandise and Red Bull drinks.

    • 6:06 p.m. — A Ricardo Lane caller said someone broke into her home in the morning, did it again and was leaving threatening letters.

    • 7:59 p.m. — A McCurdy School caller said there were people smoking marijuana in the girl’s softball dugout. He could smell smoke and heard people laughing and coughing. Police said they dispersed people who were by the football fields.

    • 10:35 p.m. — A County Road 39 caller said her friend’s boyfriend keeps passing by her house and threatening to kill her.

Elusive Drug Lab

Friday, Sept. 17

    • 12:32 a.m. — A man at the Española Hospital emergency room said he was beaten by people at the Santa Cruz County Store who took his pills and money.

    • 12:17 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said someone stole her husband’s wallet and prescription drugs. She did not want the police to come to the house, but she needed a report to get the prescription refilled.

    • 4:23 p.m. — A Rincon De Estrella caller said her son and daughter were fighting in front of a church and the man grabbed her by the throat and threw her down.

    • 4:27 p.m. — A Tobacco Mart caller said a man wearing a bandana and  another man wearing a skeleton mask were walking around the store.

    • 6:54 p.m. — A Walmart caller said his truck, which had a Dallas Cowboy’s license plate, was broken into and $500 was taken from it.

    • 7:57 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said she was getting calls from a man who was threatening to kill her, rape her, then kill her mother.

    • 9:27 p.m. — A County Road 101 caller said he could smell a meth lab somewhere in the area, but he wasn’t sure where it was coming from.

    • 9:35 p.m. — A JGN Drive caller said he was fighting with a woman because the woman told him he couldn’t satisfy her in bed anymore. They had both been drinking and the woman was picked up by her father.

Clothing-Optional Day

Saturday, Sept. 18

    • 12:29 a.m. — State Police said they had an intoxicated man who was passed out in a vehicle on Highway 84/285. The man had no pants on.

    • 3:56 a.m. — A Forest Road 315 caller said three people had carbon monoxide poisoning. They were awake and breathing but incoherent.

    • 8:11 a.m. — A State Road 68 caller saw a hot air balloon come down “really fast” and thought it may have wrecked. Police found the owner of the balloon loading equipment into a truck. The owner said everything was fine.

    • 11:46 a.m. — A McDonald’s caller said a naked female was passed out in the handicapped bathroom.

    • 6:20 p.m. — A South Coronado Avenue and Calle Quintana caller said her neighbor was outside of his house and was completely naked.

Panhandlers Take Initiative

Sunday, Sept. 19

    • 1:10 p.m. — A Private Drive 1063 caller said a man broke into her house twice and threatened to break all the windows to her car.

    • 2:36 p.m. — A man at Walmart was swearing at security guards because they told him to leave the parking lot.

    • 2:51 p.m. — A Highway 68 caller asked for an ambulance because a woman swallowed coke.

    • 3:04 p.m. — A Walmart caller stopped someone who was trying to steal a phone by cutting the sensors off with a knife. The man threw the phone at the caller and ran out of the store.

    • 6:09 p.m. — A Vista Del Rio Apartments caller said a schizophrenic man was off his medication and was “completely out of it.” The caller said there were things all over the floor and the man had a cut on his forehead.

    • 7:09 p.m. — An Española Hospital caller said two people asked her for money. When she said no they grabbed her purse and laptop and left in a pickup truck.
