Española Police officers, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies and State Police responded to the following calls:
Bread Boy Nearly Pancaked
Monday, Oct. 4
• 1:22 a.m. — A State Road 76 caller said she could hear someone breaking into her apartment.
• 11:14 a.m. — A man was on the ground by the Shoe Department. A caller said the man’s lips were blue, he was making funny noises and his body was hot. The man was transported to the Española Hospital.
• 1:38 p.m. — A Center Market Caller said she nearly ran over a 2-year-old boy who was left unattended in a bread truck.
• 2:11 p.m. — A North Railroad Avenue caller said a man looked like he was trying to escape from a woman, who was scratching him.
• 5:54 p.m. — A Fairview Lane caller said someone in a vehicle threw a beer at him.
• 9:25 p.m. — State Police were asked for help with a large fight at Walmart. The caller said the fight involved about 10 people before hanging up the line. Police said they located a group of juveniles at the Taco Bell, who were dispersed. About two hours later, Española Hospital called and reported they had a male who was hit with a set of brass knuckles. The male had a “bunch” of bruises and a laceration to his head.

Tuesday, Oct. 5
• 2:15 a.m. — A North Yucca Street caller said a drunk woman in a Chevrolet Lumina was trying to get in through his window. The State Police would not assist with the call because it was on tribal lands.
• 2:44 a.m. — A La Loma Place caller said her 14-year-old son was home alone and a man was trying to get him to open the door.
• 8:30 a.m. — A woman who was pulled over by police on North Railroad Avenue said she was going to kill herself because she was getting a citation.
• 8:52 a.m. — A Calle Vigil caller said someone stuffed a rag into her gas tank and set it on fire. The rag only burned for a little while before going out, she said.
• 10:08 a.m. — A Highway 84 caller said a maroon truck with a rack made of wood was driving from Abiquiú to Española faster than 100 mph and was pushing vehicles out of the way.
• 12:30 p.m. — A Santa Cruz Country Store caller said there was a man across the street in the road and she was worried he would get hit by a car. The man said he was beaten and he asked for an ambulance.
• 2:21 p.m. — A Chacoma Lane caller said two men and three women were going door to door in the area trying to sell Snuggle Fabric Softener. One of the women had tattoos on her eyes and her neck. The caller thought they were casing the neighborhood for a robbery.
• 2:42 p.m. — A Santa Clara Drive caller said a woman was outside trying to set herself on fire.
Shoplifter Overreaches
Wednesday, Oct. 6
• 6:06 a.m. — A County Road 1 caller said a suspicious man pulled out a golf club on her.
• 9:04 a.m. — An Española High School caller reported that a 15-year-old student was under the influence of a narcotic and having a hard time standing.
• 11:24 a.m. — An Española High School caller asked for an ambulance because a 16-year-old female was possibly drunk. The female was vomiting and unconscious. The girl was taken to the Española Hospital.
• 11:35 a.m. — A San Juan Elementary caller said a teacher had a flu shot and was having an allergic reaction and trouble breathing.
• 12:34 p.m. — A Walgreens caller said there was one female and five men outside the store “bugging” people for money. The panhandlers were gone by the time police arrived.
• 4:07 p.m. — A Walmart caller said a shoplifter in custody tried to steal lotion, bodywash, perfume, a T-shirt, socks, a candle, a bracelet, and a small multipurpose tool.
• 6:17 p.m. — A Calle Cunyo caller said his neighbor’s dogs were coming into his yard and starting a fight with his dogs. When he tried to break up the fight, one of the dogs “tore up” his arm.
• 11:43 p.m. — A Red’s Steak House caller said there was a woman outside who was yelling and hitting the windshields to cars.

Thursday, Oct. 7
• 1:02 a.m. — An Allsup’s caller said a man punched an employee there after she refused to sell him alcohol.
• 1:29 a.m. — An Avenida De Molino caller said he thought his daughter’s boyfriend broke into his house to get in his daughter’s room. The caller said he told the boyfriend he didn’t want him there.
• 8:24 a.m. — An Alcalde Elementary caller said a fifth grade student told his teacher and another student, “I am going to kill you.”
• 11:45 a.m. — A Lowe’s Supersave caller said there was a man outside who was trying to sell food stamps.
• 3:13 p.m. — A County Road 16 caller said there were dogs running at large in the area and chasing people.
• 8:22 p.m. — A State Road 106 caller reported hearing three gunshots, but the shots were being fired by the caller’s son, who was trying to hit a skunk.
• 11:40 p.m. — A North Railroad Avenue caller said someone threw a beer bottle through his window.
Hard Sell for Street Jerky
Friday, Oct. 8
• 8:40 a.m. — A Lowe’s Supersave caller said a man was in the area selling jerky and was getting angry with and harassing people who did not buy any.
• 9:30 a.m. — A Santo Niño Chapel caller saw a coyote running from the chapel toward the Las Lomas Apartments.
• 12:02 p.m. — A Children Youth and Families Department caller said one of the cars for an employee there was spray-painted.
• 1:31 p.m. — A Lower San Pedro Road caller said a man was in the street riding a motorized wheelchair. Police made contact with the man, who said he was fine, but was being careful to avoid potholes.
• 5:30 p.m. — A Rio Del Oso Street woman called for help because she said she was an alcoholic who was trying to get to rehab, but no one would help her.
• 7:11 p.m. — A Camino Rio Vista caller said a group of kids dressed in costumes were going door-to-door ringing doorbells, then videotaping the people who answered.

Saturday, Oct. 9
• 12:35 a.m. — A Star Lane caller said a strange man named “George” came to the property and refused to leave. They said he was “taking off the lightbulbs.”
• 2:13 a.m. — A South Orchard Lane man called emergency dispatch, but all dispatch could hear was “a lot of yelling and stuff breaking.” On a callback, dispatch learned that the man was calling because his wife turned down the television and he was angry.
• 11:29 a.m. — A La Tiendita caller reported that two men were fighting in the southbound lane of State Road 68.
• 12:50 p.m. — A Bonecutter Lane caller said there were some men running after another man and they were carrying a handgun.
• 6:04 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said a man wearing purple pants and a gray tank top stole a bike. However, the caller called back about half-hour later and said the man returned the bike. About two minutes after that, police were asked by a caller at New Creations to transport a man with the same description to the hospital, because he had been beaten and was highly intoxicated.

Sunday, Oct. 10
• 10:18 a.m. — A RHOC Express caller said a car was parked near the rear wall of the parking lot and people were coming up to it. He thought the person inside the car was selling drugs.
• 1:37 p.m. — A La Puebla Road caller said a man who had tattoos on his face appeared to be drunk and was staggering in the road.
• 2:14 p.m. — A Walmart caller said there were panhandlers near the store. One of the panhandlers had DVDs “in his pants” that he was trying to sell.
• 4:44 p.m. — A North Riverside Drive caller said a female was on her knees crying and screaming. A Sheriff’s Deputy learned the female had been sprayed with pepper spray by a male.
