(SUNfoto by Lou Mattei) Española Fire Chief Ron Padilla (left) and Lt. Eric Tafoya (second from right) look on as fire fighters remove their masks after emerging from DeVargas Funeral Home on Railroad Avenue June 1. Tafoya said fire fighters were investigating potentially hazardous fumes stemming from formaldehyde and possibly bleach backed up in a slow-moving drain inside the building. Funeral home director Johnny DeVargas was transported to the hospital but said Tuesday everything was fine and the emergency response was mostly a precautionary measure.
