Arizona Crackhead Found in Woman’s Bathroom

Española Police, Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s deputies, Ohkay Owingeh Tribal Police and State Police responded to the following calls.

Renters Bad People

Monday, Oct. 6

    • 12:41 a.m. — A Santa Clara Apartments caller said a man was knocking on all the doors, asking for people the caller doesn’t even know. He was walking home when police arrived.

    • 9:51 a.m. — A man wanted to make a walk-in report at State Police about his car being stolen. He said he traded cars with someone and ended up with a “lemon.” The man was referred to the courts to address the civil matter.

    • 12:27 p.m. — A Wal-Mart employee said she saw a shirtless man using a knife to open DVDs in the aisle. Police took a report for shoplifting.

    • 12:39 p.m. — An Alicia Fine Jewelry store employee said a man with a suitcase was throwing rocks at the store’s windows. Police determined he was throwing rocks at a squirrel.

    • 5:33 p.m. — A Private Drive 1013 caller said her son was intoxicated and throwing food on the floor. He did not damage anything and left before police arrived. He just threw the groceries off the table.

    • 9:37 p.m. — A caller said the renters of his Paseo de Oñate property, near Northern New Mexico College, are bad people and the cops are always there. A second caller said a man by the college was screaming. He was detoxed.

Tuesday, Oct. 7

    • 2:16 a.m. — A Santa Clara Apartments caller said two guys wearing all black were siphoning gas out of cars. Police couldn’t locate them.

    • 9:40 a.m. — A Po’Pay Avenue caller said he got into an argument with his girlfriend’s brother and the brother shot at his car. He said it was hard for him to drive at the same time as talk on the phone because one of his hands is paralyzed, so dispatchers advised him to hang up and drive to the police station. He never showed up.

    • 3:48 p.m. — A High Country Lounge employee requested police remove a drunk individual from the Chama establishment. He left before police arrived.

    • 6:32 p.m. — A caller said a woman driving a black car on State Road 68 was giving everyone the “bird” and swerving all over the road. Officers were advised to be on the lookout.

Wednesday, Oct. 8

    • 10:17 a.m. — A Clayton Homes employee said people were coming at night and stealing the wiring, which the caller said is very expensive. Police took a report for larceny.

    • 12:00 p.m. — A caller wanted to make a walk-in report at State Police because she paid a man $20,000 to build a room and he began in February but never finished. She was referred to the courts for the civil matter.

    • 1:03 p.m. — An El Rito caller said someone took the chain off her gate so their cows could graze.

    • 2:45 p.m. — A Calle del Pajarito caller said she walked in on a man smoking crack in her bathroom. She followed the man, whom she said also stole $100 from her pants, in her car as he left the house on foot. Police caught up with him at an abandoned house on the corner of Calle del Pajarito and Lower San Pedro Road but couldn’t find the money. They discovered he was on supervised release status out of Cochise County, Ariz., and notified that county’s law enforcement of the theft.

    • 4:25 p.m. — A caller requested a civil standby to help her retrieve her belongings from a Big Tree Lane home. The Big Tree Lane homeowner threw all the belongings in question outside and was being “very abusive” with the deputy. A second caller commented that the homeowner threw all the belongings outside and “it looks like a dump,” and a third caller said the homeowner was also harassing him with abusive language. Deputies took a report for harassment.        

    • 5:56 p.m. — A couple made a walk-in report for larceny at State Police after someone stole items from their hot air balloon.            • 6:39 p.m. — A Rio Arriba County Road 40 caller said her laptop had been missing since March. She said she first filed a report accusing her son, but he returned it a few days later. Her house was then burglarized, and it was stolen again. She was advised to make a report at the Sheriff’s Department.

Cocaine Bet Settled

Thursday, Oct. 9

    • 10:39 a.m. — A County Road 57 caller said his cousin told him he wasn’t welcome at his grandmother’s house and threatened “to kick his (expletive)” if he returned. The caller was advised to get a restraining order.

    • 3:03 p.m. — A Calle Olivas caller said his brother claimed he had cocaine, and the caller wanted an officer to see if his brother could prove it. One of them was detoxed.

    • 8:24 p.m. — A Monterey Lane caller said her husband wanted the car but she had to go bail out her sister, and her husband threw the keys. No report was wanted.

    • 9:25 p.m. — A Calle Rivera caller said she had been harassed all evening by a homeless man who was saying bad words and shooting rocks with a slingshot. She didn’t want to file a report, just wanted officers to know what was happening.

$250 Sent to Jamaica Probably Not a Loan

Friday, Oct. 10

    • 9:20 am — The Clayton Homes employee called again, saying an officer warned him the thieves would probably come back for the rest of the wiring, and they did. The original report was supplemented.

    • 10:44 a.m. — A State Road 76 caller said someone threw a yellow object in her doorway, and she did not want to touch it. She also said she saw red spots all over her fridge and air conditioner. Police couldn’t find any criminal activity.

    • 3:35 p.m. — A North Foothill Drive caller said she sent $250 through Western Union to someone in Jamaica, and was concerned it may have been a scam. No report was taken.

No Brotherly Love

Saturday, Oct. 11

    • 1:12 a.m. — A Las Lomas Apartments caller said after her uncle passed away, her other uncle stole his truck. Police referred her to the courts.

    • 9:53 a.m. — An Espinoza Lane caller said her ex-husband was violating a restraining order by stealing her wood. Police took a report.

    • 8:47 p.m. — A Calle Don Roberto caller said his brother was calling him names and starting a fight. He was dispersed.

Unwanted Bed Guest Sunday, Oct. 12

    • 9:14 a.m. — A Highway 84 caller said she came home and found her back door open and a woman asleep in her bed. She said the woman used to come around awhile back but the last time she was there, the caller told her she was not welcome there. The caller said she didn’t need to deal with this stress. Police dispered the woman.

    • 11:02 a.m. — A Cook’s Trailer Park caller said he got married the previous night and found his car window broken the next morning. He said he suspected people, who he had removed from the wedding because they wanted to fight, broke the window. Police took a report for criminal damage.

    • 4:23 p.m. — A Rock Christian Church caller said the abortion sign in front of the church was paintballed by two people wearing bandannas. No report was wanted.

    • 5:04 p.m. — A Blake’s Lotaburger employee said an apparently drunk man kept walking in and out of the west-side restaurant harassing staff. He was detoxed.
